Meanwhile, keep watching for shortage reports, because we should start seeing some sneak in this week, if our doom-o-meter is calibrated correctly.

we are using all our grey water in the garden, but not the kitchen water as it is said that the microbes have problems breaking down the grease and grease could slow down the composting process.
I would like to build a simple and cheap grease trap. Anyone built one?

Oasis Design suggests not having any kind of collection or trap for greywater, as these inevitably become clogged. That's been my experience as well.

I just dump greywater (like clothes washing, dishes etc) to my trees. The appples seem to love it. No microbe issues with fruit trees either (just don't pick it off the ground). If you go straight to the ground with it (rocks to break up flow) then the sun will handle any microbe issues you might have and accelerate breakdown of greases and soaps as well...

Clogging should not stop you from using a grease interceptor. Cookings oils and things should be properly disposed of, I dont know for sure, but I doesnt sound like it would be good for plants.

They probably got clogged because they must be serviced regularly.

Nothing will get blocked. You just put your grey water diverter into the down pipe and open it into a bucket. This bucket then should be the grease trap.
There won't be any harmful microbes as it is dish washing water, plates with traces from food you just ate. You will have to bucket the water out within a day, because it'll get yucky and smelly and your kids may use it for mud cakes instead.

As you can use oil as an insecticide (eco oil) fatty dish washing water might be harmful for the soil microbes.
