Peak Oil: The Race for What’s Left – Full Talk

Professor Michael T. Klare presents the full talk on his latest book – The Race for What’s Left: The Global Scramble for the World’s Last Resources – to the Carnegie Council on March 20, 2012. The talk is followed by an audience Q&A. @ 60 minutes.

Description from the Carnegie Council website:

“The world is facing an unprecedented crisis of resource depletion and the political and environmental risks are becoming increasingly severe as governments and companies search for the planet’s final supplies. Can we change our consumption patterns and find a way out?

“From a Russian submarine planting the country’s flag on the North Pole seabed to the large-scale buying up of African farmland by Saudi Arabia, China, and other food-importing nations, Professor Michael T. Klare gives an in-depth account of the final frontiers of resource extraction.”

This guy is in denial and thinks that a few tweaks to the system will allow most of our lifestyles to continue. He admits that resources are in decline, but doesn’t really accept the consequences of that fact. He thinks tech will save us…

I feel sorry for his students if they get brainwashed to believe his view as reality. Of course, he is speaking at the Carnegie Brainwashing Organization. One of the 1% who profits from denial.

Thanks BillT, thats saved me some time. If he is from the church of “tech solves everything” than he can waffle into oblivion as far as I’m concerned.
