Iran Reports 15 Billion Barrel Oil Find

Iran has struck new crude oil reserves totaling 15 billion barrels of which 2 billion barrels are recoverable, according to the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company Ali Kardor. Along with the crude, there were 1.8 trillion cu m of natural gas in the new deposits, details of whose location were not divulged. Half of this was recoverable, Kardor also said, as quoted by local media.

The exploitation of these newly found reserves would require massive investments and modern technology, which Iran does not have at the moment. The discoveries are likely to lead to more tenders targeting international oil companies, which have the technology to tap them.

This could turn tricky if the U.S. decides to impose more sanctions against Tehran, after last week the Trump administration slammed the country with fresh sanctions against individuals and entities linked to the special forces of Iran’s army, the Revolutionary Guards. The sanctions followed non-nuclear ballistic missile testing in Iran and were seen by senior U.S. defense officials as the first move in a campaign aimed at deterring Iran from expanding its military capabilities.

Tehran responded with a warning that it would use the missiles it has if it its security is thought to have been threatened. “If we see smallest misstep from the enemies, our roaring missiles will fall on their heads,” the Revolutionary Guards’ chief, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, was quoted as saying by Iranian media.

Although Defense Secretary James Mattis dismissed the possibility of a quick escalation between the U.S. and Iran, saying Washington would not increase the number of U.S. troops in the Middle East, worries remain about how the situation will unfold, pushing up crude oil prices.

One thing that has not happened yet, however, as Bloomberg notes, is Iran’s conservatives succeeding in pushing the government to scrap the 2015 deal with Western powers, which resulted in the lifting of most of the sanctions against Iran. The country’s reformist government seems to have opted for patience in its relations with the new U.S. administration.

Yah, murder is perfectly acceptable, if you’re a totally demented psychopath, who deserves to be executed.

This situation with Iran is in flux. We know Israel may want to start something hoping the US will clean up its mess. I am not sure Trump wants to go there. Look at what is on Trumps plate domestically. Nationalist think this way. They have their own kitchen they cook in. He has much to do and a war will side track everything. I feel he has put Iran on notice and that is the furthest he wants to go for now. He will try to work a deal from strength. He may not find strength now that sanctions are of little effect. Iran may change its tune hoping the left overthrow him. There is then MIC and the deep state. Mic and the deep state might find a war with Iran a perfect opportunity to sideline Trump and his aggressive nationalistic policies. What about Putin? Will he work on Iran and the US to cool this situation? Putin has a lot to lose. He is clearly the victor in Syria but being a victor in the Middle East is a moving target. Putin stands to gain hugely from a successful Trump. MIC and the deep state a lot to lose. Yet, this is deceptive too because Trump has not said he is going to defund MIC. There is the possibility the swamp is just going to turn over like lakes do here in the Ozarks in springtime. Trump has created new niches in a brittle and stale status quo with MIC and the deep state. New opportunities and new dangers are lurking. I think anything is possible now and for the next year at least until the Trump reality settles.

If Trumpet’s domestic platform falters, the all knowing one will leap on an easy prey…
Iran is next on the list of the NeoCons.
They never got over the sacking of the Shah and they way the game is played, the Military Industrial complex always needs a “reason” to maintain its growth. North Korea? We could send in the National Guard of Texas with Rick Perry and take over that basket case…along with a catering supply of KFC, McDonalds, and Subway…no need for weapons.
The Industrial complex needs to reduce the inventory to refill orders.
In the Iraq invasion…how much heavy equipment made it back to the States?
See, POLITICS is simple…its always about the money!

So, if they ‘found’ 15 billion barrels, but only actually dif up 2, what is the point of saying they ‘found’ 15 billion? Why not skip the 13 that cant be recovered, or might not even exist really, and just say you found 2 billion?

Wouldn’t that like me claiming I found a 20 dollar bill on the ground, but actually only found a toonie?
