Episode 241 is a very important discussion regarding oil and so-called “fossil fuels” and “peak oil”, with Greg Quinones, titled: “Abiogenic Petroleum: Peak Oil and “Fossil Fuels” – Debunked”.

This episode is being released for Thursday, December 03, 2015, and was recorded November 22.

Greg Quinones is a business consultant, writer, public speaker, trainer and teacher. Greg is Founder and Managing Executive Partner of ZEN Enhanced Oil Recovery (ZENEOR) a Texas based privately held limited liability company. I can sleep easier at night after listening to this “enlightening” interview. I gave up after 25 minutes. This reminded me of the debate between Bill Nye and the founder of the creationist museum a few years ago. The pie in the sky promoters tend to speak in calm soothing voices and simple terms so that the masses will be confused by the attempt at the opponent to explain in terms that the average Joe might not be familiar with.

    “I gave up after 25 minutes. “

You are living in a far too civilized state. You are losing your scent of skunk!

Joe – They aren’t idiots…they are “promoters”. Been dealing with them for 40 years. Like the promoter I dealt with in the late 70’s. I watched them promote 18 exploration wells in joint venture. And all 18 were dry holes.

And the senior management of the promoter made $MILLIONS!!! Would you call them idiots? Scum, maybe, but not idiots. Their investors…that’s another matter. LOL.

Everyone needs to understand that many of these asinine articles are written by folks who don’t really believe much of what they are saying. Written them off as idiots is dangerous and just plays into their hands.

Always pointless to underestimate the enemy. LOL.

Neither of these gentlemen has a technical background in geology, that is obvious. The data are voluminous that correlates many oils worldwide to specific source rocks in basins. It is interesting that no oil is present nor produced in areas of only crystalline basement, i.e. the Canadian Shield. Other basement-cored area around the world have no oil but many, many sedimentary basins do have vast quantities of oil. FYI, I spent nearly 39 years as a petroleum exploration geologist so I do have a technical background.

This video contradicts about everything that the average poster here believes in.

    Statements from the video:

Peak world population was around 1995.

Oil is the blood of the planet, its supply is endless.

Mother nature spills 1 million barrel of oil every day on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico.

You are doing the planet a service if you drive big cars or monster trucks.

Solar panels have an EROEI < 1

    Oil lubricates tectonic plates.

On 10 km depth between the Canadian border and (I believe) Montana there is an oil reservoir enough to fuel the entire planet for 2-3 centuries.

    Nothing wrong with fracking.

Wind turbines and solar panels are the real poluters because of mining practices required to dig up rare earths.

    ————–

If this isn't enough, now I am going to give you my own opinions.lol

I agree that fossil fuel is abundant in the entire earth crust. Perhaps this Montana story is true. The rare earth story is BS, they are no longer necessary anyway. Solar EROEI < 1 is the Hall-Pietro BS, nobody believes in.

Abiotic oil – now that is a different story. The idea that oil is derived from organic life runs counter to the pattern that oil and gas are found in concentrated quantities on rare locations, where organic life is much more evenly distibuted over the planet.

Didn’t bother to watch…knew I would get the gist from the comments. But once more the Rockman will again state his absolute belief that all oil and NG have an abiotic origin. Been hunting those resources for more then 4 decades and not once has the possibility that all hydrocarbons have an abiotic origin hindered those efforts.

And for good reason: the Rockman didn’t spend one minute searching for the origination site of the elusive prey…no profit in that effort. Every paycheck the Rockman received was for finding where the hydrocarbons accumulated…not where they were generated. Of course in all the plays the Rockman worked (onshore/offshore Gulf of Mexico, northern Rockies, offshore Africa) it was established decades ago that hydrocarbons had been generated in those regions.

Thus the objective was always to find where the hydrocarbons had ACCUMULATED and not where they were GENERATED. And the physical requirements for the development of such traps (structure, seals, temperature window, porosity, permeability, etc.) had been established about 100 years ago. Regardless of where or how the hydrocarbons were generated they can only be produced from the fields they accumulated in.

And it’s those traps the Rockman has hunted for almost half a century. Which is why no one will hear the Rockman waste time arguing about the origin of hydrocarbons because it doesn’t make any f*cking difference to his continued efforts. LOL.

Of course Greg Quinones being a business consultant, writer, public speaker, trainer and teacher might not know too much about the process of locating hydrocarbon accumulations since he apparently never earned a paycheck doing so. LOL.

They were generated on the sun.

‘Next year or the year after, the Arctic will be free of ice’

Scientist Peter Wadhams believes the summer ice cover at the north pole is about to disappear, triggering even more rapid global warming

“Why should we be concerned about an Arctic that is free of ice in summer?
People tend to think of an ice-free Arctic in summer in terms of it merely being a symbol of global change. Things happen, they say. In fact, the impact will be profound and will effect the whole planet and its population. One key effect will be albedo feedback. Sea ice reflects about 50% of the solar radiation it receives back into space. By contrast, water reflects less than 10%. So if you replace ice with water, which is darker, much more solar heat will be absorbed by the ocean and the planet will heat up even more rapidly than it is doing at present.”

    The Bonfire of the Banalities

“In our world, this will be the hottest year the earth has ever experienced. It will break the previous record, set last year. Which broke the previous record, set the year before. Arctic sea ice has shrunk to a smaller area than ever recorded, with massive, yet-to-be-calculated effect on the world’s weather and oceans. The glaciers of Greenland and Antarctica are disappearing at rates far exceeding the worst-case scientific scenarios of just a few years ago.”

“n our world, nearly 30,000 wildfires so far this year in the American West have charred almost three million acres of land, and the peak of the season is still ahead. The ongoing Blue Cut Fire in California has crisped 50 square miles and forced the evacuation of more than 80,000 people. Last year, with 10 million acres burned over, set all-time records for the number, extent and severity of wildfires. As unprecedented drought and heat continue, this year will probably set new ones. Not only in California but western and northern Canada, Alaska and Siberia.”

“Here on earth, floods of Biblical dimensions, expected to happen on average once every thousand years, have so far this year struck Houston, Texas, southeast West Virginia (24 dead, thousands of homes destroyed), Ellicott City, Maryland, and South Louisiana, in what is being called the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Hurricane Sandy.”

An old and pointless debate. Oil is dying because its utility is lower. Oil is great in a social phase of growth. Like from 1880, to 2007, then somthing odd happened. The financial system imploded and no region has been able to get itself out of the funk its found itself in. Instead millions of elderly and unemployed and unemployable people are dragging down a system that used to recover everytime its money pumps had heart attacks. Generations have grown up not knowing physical labour. The system is instead importing the people outside its zone of influence to create false demand while also undermining core society via taxes and inefficiency. Nobody has mentioned what will happen to Obamacare and every major issue is being sidelined to the Trump circus and Clinton security weakness. Oil is destroying the earth, yet some argue if theres an endless supply or not. Its like the allegory of the cave. Donillary Trumpton nonsense and abiotic antibiotics are just shadows on walls, dancing.

Very interesting comment, thanks as usual for the free high quality consultancy.

Ever considered to let yourself being hired by the abiotic Russians or do they offer lousy pay?
