Morocco must increase its energy consumption: Minister

In an interview with the Moroccan daily L’Economiste, Boutaleb explained that “there is no question for us to reduce consumption of energy products taking into consideration our delay. On the contrary, we have to increase it because the rate of consumption is an economic indicator of development.”

Boutaleb considers necessary the development of renewable energies which “will contribute to reduce the energy bill in Morocco”.

He recalled that Morocco has a partnership with the World Bank by virtue of which the body will accompany the Kingdom to establish a legal framework for renewable energies and the mechanisms related to the control of energy effectiveness.
