“Throughout much of 2008, energy issues have been surrounded by more partisanship, as energy emerged as a key concern for voters and as an issue on the campaign trail,” said Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M.
But he said he hoped for “a re-emergence of bipartisanship on energy after the elections are over and we reconvene next year.”
This Congress’ debate over how the federal government should respond to escalating energy prices largely split along party lines and between those who want to expand production in offshore areas and those who don’t.
