Bison once roamed across much of North America. Today bison are ecologically extinct throughout most of their historic range, except for a few national parks and other small wildlife areas. Yellowstone National Park has the largest population of free-roaming plains bison (about 4,000), and Wood Buffalo National Park has the largest population of free-roaming wood bison (about 10,000).

Turner Ranches

With approximately two million acres of personal and ranch land, Ted Turner is the second largest individual landholder in North America. Turner lands are innovatively managed to unite economic viability with ecological sustainability. Turner ranches operate as working businesses, relying on bison and hunting/fishing/nature tourism as principal enterprises. In addition, Turner ranches support many progressive environmental projects including water resource and timber management, and the reintroduction of native species to the land.

Turner Enterprises also manages over 51,000 bison across the various Turner ranches.

It is estimated that in the early 18th century, the bald eagle population was 300,000–500,000,[115] but by the 1950s there were only 412 nesting pairs in the 48 contiguous states of the US.
What do you think caused the decline, and what led to the recovery?

In Australia, baited feral animals eaten as carrion are the main mass killer of eagles. I would guess wild dog- wolf- coyote poisoning regimes a very likely culprit. There ain't that many assholes even in the USA to shoot them down.

Decline was caused by: increased numbers of "small sustainable communities" (read: Native Americans and White settlers and their descendents) who like to kill eagles, to get feathers for fashion and arrow fletching or for the threat they posed to small agricultural activities. Alternative explanations (such as DDT) don't stand up to the evidence.

The recovery was caused by: President Ronald Regan's efforts to restore American economic freedom which created the financial incentive for rural outmigration to cities and suburban areas, to participate in the New Service Economy. In short, Ronald Reagan's Legacy saved the bald eagle from Communist populist sustainable green extinction.

If you include humans in the pool of "wild animals" - which most of them really are - then the title is correct.
