Happy Talk

Back to normal happy talk!!

Always wanted to meet a cybord, looks like we all might get the chance! Not only is this a good thing for how future people might be able to work and the progress of AI in general, but its cool!

Elon is really one of the few people running full speed into the ongoing transition that was begun, as best I can tell, about a decade about. Propelled in part by the resource scarcity meme involving peak oil like thinking, but still moving along faster than doomers can come up with new ways to destroy the world (which is to say, none, because they keep recycling old ones).

Musk on a mission to link brains with computers Musk on a mission to link brains with computers

Tesla founder and Chief Executive Elon Musk said his latest company Neuralink is working to link the human brain with a machine interface by creating micron-sized devices.

Neuralink is aiming to bring to the market a product that helps with certain severe brain injuries due to stroke, cancer lesions, and so on, in about four years, Musk said in an interview with website Wait But Why.

As the originator of the thread, I am banning all future NRA bs from the thread. Thanks. I'm so glad you think you have that 'right.' But it really is not in the bill of rights in quite the way you think.

Anyway, thanks, ol, for those worthy posts.

Adam, it just gets us into a monkey-chasing-his-tail type of dialogue that I don't think is particularly 'happy' or useful here.

You've had a chance to express your wonderful gun-joy.

Now can we please move on to other areas of your experience that give you joy?? :-D :-D

How, for example, are everyone's gardens getting on?

Ha, I thought you'd never ask...

Hard to believe this was just dirt two weeks ago. Peas are climbing and lettuce was had for dinner last night.

Full disclosure - That is 24 potato plants and 200 onions. If they all survive and are carefully stored, that will feed us both for a year.

Also - everything you see here was planted directly from seed. No seedlings from Lowes...except seed potatoes and onion sets.

That is truly beautiful, baha. Thanks for the text and pics!

And for more happy talk:

British power generation achieves first ever coal-free day

National Grid hails milestone as other sources like gas, nuclear, wind and solar allow UK to keep lights on with all coal-fired powerplants offline

Friday was Britain’s first ever working day without coal power since the Industrial Revolution, according to the National Grid.

The control room tweeted the milestone on Friday. It is the first continuous 24-hour coal-free period for Britain since use of the fossil fuel began. West Burton 1 power station, the only coal-fired plant that had been up and running, went offline on Thursday....

We just landed a 1.32 Mwatt roof top installation to the tune of $1.9 million :) and no, it's not a chicken farm :)

Best news I've heard all year. I just have to keep it running after we're done...

Here is the biggest Solar Thermal installation I have done,

It is 96 4x6 panels in groups of 6 used to heat a pool three times olympic size. It is used for combat training for Marine beach assault.

It's not quite finished in this pic but I love the sunset on the copper :)

BTW - I'm not advertising...I'm bragging :)

Stock market is on a tear upwards over the French election news. Or that is the reason given on CNBC. Who knows really. But the money is coming in and I'm not complaining.

The title assigned to the thread is "Happy Talk"....not "Happy Talk Related to Scratching In The Dirt".

So..okay...no happy talk about the constitutional right to defend ourselves....then we must move on to other happy talk.

MotoAmerica Round 2 this weekend at Road Atlanta! Woot! Happy talk, a decade after peak oil and its effects are so benign that people can still wildly waste liquid fuels to do nothing but run around in circles performing acts of daring do on race tracks!

http://roadatlanta.com/motoamerica

I get a little shiver of happiness, knowing that peak oil hasn't stopped the true use and meaning of furiously combusting liquid fuels to achieve absolutely nothing but the victor to proclaim that on that day, they are faster than everyone else, at that locale.

After losing my initial 21 pounds I've been stuck there for the last ten days. Even though I was warned about weight loss stalls it was frustrating. Every morning weight was the same. But I felt thinner. Anyway got on the scales this morning and I had lost another four pounds so down 25 pounds from March 15th. Where did the four pounds go in 24 hours? Not a clue. But I'm happy about the results so far.

Made this for dinner last night. If you like Mexican food it kicked ass. Add some jalapenos if you want some more heat and some lettuce for some crunch.

Ok learned something new. Called the rather unscientific name "whoosh effect" Even when the scale doesn't move, you are still burning that fat if you are in a caloric deficit. You body is replacing that lost fat with water. After some period of time your body releases all that water occupying the fat cells and you see a sudden weight loss. Even though you have been burning fat the entire time. Interesting.

An article about the whoosh.

I want you to know that Solar Thermal system is fully monitored. It produces 2 million BTU/day and directly offsets steam heat from an on-base coal fired PP.

I decided 10 years ago that lowering my footprint wasn't good enough. I was going to make a real difference. In 10 years I have probably offset all the CO2 produced by the folks on Peakoil.com :) and then some.

That makes me very happy :) and your welcome.
