The famous EU democratic values in action

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/econ ... power.html

Portugal has entered dangerous political waters. For the first time since the creation of Europe’s monetary union, a member state has taken the explicit step of forbidding eurosceptic parties from taking office on the grounds of national interest.

Anibal Cavaco Silva, Portugal’s constitutional president, has refused to appoint a Left-wing coalition government even though it secured an absolute majority in the Portuguese parliament and won a mandate to smash the austerity regime bequeathed by the EU-IMF Troika.

I guess this would be managed "democracy" in action for real right at home instead of fictionally in some big bad country in the east as much yapped about the "free" media.

Politics has always been about only one thing - power.
"Democracy" is only a pleasing song for the masses to hum. Since most don't know the words.

Democracy today is quite different from what we have been told democracy should be.

First they run hidden campaigns indoctrinating people to have the correct opinion and since all medias are government controlled the coverage is pretty complete. - In Denmark we call this "mediestøtte" - which means that all danish newspapers, radios and so forth receive most of their income from the government. The taxation is so ridiculous that noone survives without this "help". If you do the wrong thing your newsmedia will fall out of grace and get cut down. So you better do the "right" thing.

Some time later they will start talking about for example becoming a member of the EU.

Then massive commercial campaigns comes along telling you how rich you will get and how dangerous and stupid it is to vote no.

Then they let people vote.

If people has "misunderstood" the intention and votes wrong - they will change minute details and tell people to vote again while intensifying the indoctrination procedures.

They will lie about the content, the loss of sovereignty and so forth - so they only need 50.1% of the votes.

When people has voted what they want - they will NEVER allow a vote again... NEVER. Not even when it becomes apparent that the YES was based on wrong assumptions and incorrect government indoctrination.

PY, you are NOT describing a Democratic state or a Socialist state, you are describing a Fascist state. Fascism as defined by it's founder, Benito Mussolini:

1."Everything in the state". The Government is supreme and the country is all-encompassing, and all within it must conform to the ruling body, often a dictator.
2."Nothing outside the state". The country must grow and the implied goal of any fascist nation is to rule the world, and have every human submit to the government.
3."Nothing against the state". Any type of questioning the government is not to be tolerated. If you do not see things our way, you are wrong. If you do not agree with the government, you cannot be allowed to live and taint the minds of the rest of the good citizens.

- The Urban Dictionary

Many people mistakenly believe that a Dictator is necessary for Fascism, but a Legislative body is even more oppressive.

Many people believe Fascism is a Right Wing form of government - but all Right Wing Fascists have been short-lived, lasting at most a single generation. The Left Wing Fascists by contrast gain power relentlessly, as they did in the Soviet Union.

The most oppressive Fascists of all hide under the guise of an official state religion, as in countries in the Middle East.
