For the first time I read a sensible article about Russia from the American newspaper.

The author has collected enough material for the Western view of Russia, it says at least the seriousness of the approach to the issue. Against the backdrop of tabloid articles in the Western "respected" in which only the slogans and cliches, such a balanced view of Russia is the winner. It is a pity that the Western media not interested in a serious analyst.

It does not take a great deal of intelligence to discern why the Western elites hated and continue to view the Soviets/Russians with suspicion. The Russians elected by a majority to deal to their leech class in the Revolution, they sought to run their lives in another form unprofitable to the leech class, they sought to encourage others to throw off their own shackles (Western media are fond of depicting this as Soviet Imperialism when the USSR's actions abroad were not even in the same realm as that of European settler adventurism.

And unlike the Chinese who roilled over and capitulated at the first whiff of a bribe, the Soviets had to be beaten into submission.

So yeah, the Western elites still nurse a suspicion of Russia given the circumstances. It is largely unfounded as the likelihood of a defeated Russia reviving it's revolutionary past whilst the global capitalist economy is still growing, is rather remote.

Yet the linked article provides Putin's citations highly critical of Bolshevik's ways.

Irrespective of what anyone may say, capitalists did not go to all the trouble of removing a system that set a bad example vis-a-vis those nations who had traditinally been looted and robbed blind, at great costs to the capitalist. Only to a mere 20 years later, to be sitting back on their fat haunches demanding a bailout whereas in the past they would have had their asses handed to them on a plate.

Those are facts. Putin on the other hand, has taken the Queen's silver.
