I don't think the run through will happen nearly so fast as the thread has outlined so far. I think this namely because the normal internal constraint of loss on failed exploration can and is being alleviated by the majors in the form of small purchases of various companies that are able to show exploration success.

They can buy their way forward, on the books. By going into the market to purchase successful exploration companies they can cut their own exploration costs dramatically over what they would have been had they had to risk failed wells. They can let the small companies take on the risks. The financial sector seems more than willing to fund small company's chances.

The companies they purchase now (domestically at least) would largely be fracking operations. In the future they might be small off-shore operations, maybe even off-shore reworking operations using what the current trend will teach us about the viability of what we've always left behind as it plays out.
