Just a heads up on an Australian doco that's on ABC TV on Thursday night about Oil: Crude
I think it is over 3 weeks.

Is it just me or does the Aussie media seem much more aware or just plain less chicken shit to spell out the problems of our current and more importantly future situation.
I'm pretty sure you would never see this in a synopsis for a BBC doc.

And I can gaurantee you wouldn't see a synopsis describing Climate Change as

Does the family in broader sense include the PO forum members as well? You can record it and place it as stream on the internet, for educational purposes only..

Why do people insist on Real Player? Hasn't that Internet Dinosaur died out yet?

Sorry... if I knew how to do it I would. Hopefully, someone else can do it, or it will end up online through some media...

Only ABC.
And I don't know many people watching this channel frequently.

They get about 15% of the watching audience. I'd be lost without my ABC.
Recent rating survey: Overall, Nine had 28.8 per cent of night-time viewers in Melbourne last week, followed by Seven (28.1), Ten (21.9), ABC (16.6) and SBS (4.6).

I watched it with my family. I must say, it’s well deserving of the “award winning” status they give it. While it’s similar to many other PO documentaries, with the usual crowd of geologists stating pretty much the exact same thing we see them say in every documentary or write in every book, the overall presentation of this documentary really brought peak oil and climate change into a much more interesting and mainstream-digestible format. The show used some impressive animations to describe the carbon cycle and the formation of oil during the Jurassic period. It went into detail about the greenhouse events that caused the build-up of carbon sediments in warm, stagnant oceans, and commented on the irony of how our rapid release of carbon could result in the planets next great build-up of carbon reservoirs. And of course it went into detail about the vital role of oil in modern civilization, and the potential impact peak oil may have.

I was impressed that basically they didn’t treat the audience like idiots. While they went into just how serious the situation is, they didn’t really draw the conclusions for you. At least, they didn’t come off as sounding alarmist because of some political motive, or at the other end of the scale pie in the sky because of some government grant or something.

It was a nice, well rounded, educational and entertaining piece of documentary film making.

Only? It’s easily the best media outlet this country has, and from what I’ve seen of foreign media, it’s one of the best in the world. Almost everything shown is a serious look at the world, with no punches pulled. Even the comedy is a serious look at the world, making it all the more funny.

But I know what you mean – it would be good to see something like this on the mainstream channels. Even though most people would probably flick over to Big Brother, or CSI or some other pointless garbage.

But I had to respond to you're 'only' comment - I also love my ABC.

Agree ABC has the quality programs, follwed by SBS.
And I just realised it was actually SBS that aired Crude Impact recently.
I hardly watch TV nowadays and if I do I favor thos two channels.
A bit less fluff and crap than the rest.

I don't watch TV any more, but I listen to ABC Radio National and they were pushing the doco pretty strongly since the Science Show did an interview with the maker of it on Saturday.

I saw this online last night and was THOROUGHLY impressed.

I've watched (and bought) just about every film made about peak oil to consider using in my classroom, and this by far is the most comprehensive and intelligent.
