CO2 Clock

CO2 Clock

Plantagenet posted this on the CO2 thread so I am putting it at the top of the forum for easy reference for everyone.

And if you watch closely during Planter's next 26 hour jet plane ride in her little cultural emersion tourism forays, you just might see those numbers go up a little bit faster. Strange that, how somebody who obviously cares so much, does so much more of the exact same thing that she pretends to be in opposition to.

The math behind the CO2 clock is available here:

CARBON-CLOCK-TECHNICAL-WORKING-PAPER.pdf

Basically the carbon clock uses a mathematical model of the past pattern of seasonal variation and overall increases in atmospheric CO2 as measured in the Keeling curve to project atmospheric carbon CO2 values into the future. The model is based on a very complete compilation of all the atmospheric CO2 data, massaged by some hairy mathematical analysis into a empirical model that can accurately "predict" the second-by-second changes in CO2 occurring right now, as well as the concentration of CO2 at various times into the future.

cheers!

What we really need are additional AGW threads to remind us of what a depressing holiday season this is. This sucks. I am going to off myself. Do I have time still?

Yes we can watch in detail as we further mess up the future on this Planet. I second Pstarr truly depressing holiday season. Hey but at least we have each other. 8)

I didn't realize there was an intruder forcing you to visit the Environmental subforum of the website. Should we call the authorities and where do we send them to help you out Pete?

And even more basically, CO2 is generated mostly by human beings burning fossil fuels. If you aren't willing to do your part to reduce your own emissions planter, then you madame, are a hypocrite.

I'm on the other end of Planter, we market and promote Mount Totumas and seduce Planters and all the other northerners freezing in the winter to jump on airplanes and come down here to Panama to experience old growth pristine cloud forest habitat. In fact I am far worse than Planter, he is only an individual seduced. I am a seducer!

Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the greatest hypocrite of all?

Look deeply into the mirror before casting the first stone.

Hey Plantagent, when are you coming down to visit?

You are being honest Ibon, and you are accepting responsibility. :)

There is nothing hypocritical about that at all.

Thanks---I've considered it.

I checked out your website---Your place looks really cool and I like your style and I'd like to visit sometime.

However this year I'm going to Sicily.

Here in Alaska we're down to about 2 hours of daylight and temperatures will drop to -30° by xmas. Time to go on a winter trip. I think I'll check out the peak oil situation in Sicily.

So the rental room has a beach view but does't come with a TV?----PERFECT!

How about checking out Crimea for us?

Have a great 'trip' planter, and when you get back, be sure to continue to point fingers at others for not doing anything about climate change.

Sorry--Crimea is not on my travel list right now, for various reasons.

If you're interested in Crimea I suggest you go there yourself. You live somewhere in Europe, I think, so its a heck of a lot closer for you to go to Crimea then me. The passenger train service into Crimea through Ukraine is still disrupted, I think, but you can get there by ferry from Kerch in Russia so it wouldn't be too expensive for you.

Cheers!

There's plenty of blame to spread around. While I think everyone needs to reflect deeply on their own contributions to the problems, the ways we participate in and support the larger system means we are all pretty much up to our elbows in blood. I'm in 'Higher Education,' but it might be pointed out that nearly all of the people most responsible for our current predicaments have gone through some form of Higher Education, so I think these institutions bear some very basic responsibility for the situations we find ourselves in.

Absolutely there is, and even though accepting responsibility is a good first step, acceptance alone will not help us moving forward. Those of us who are aware of the seriousness of our predicament should be taking steps to cut our own emissions. Those who point fingers at others, while not taking steps to reduce their carbon footprints themselves, are hypocrites.

This Sunday, Valentines Day 2016, the CO2 clock is showing 404.3 ppmv

Hope that warms the cockles of your hearts lovers everywhere, it causes a chill up my spine personally.
