Keith Addison / Journey to Forever

Unread postby davep » Fri 07 Nov 2014, 11:31:43

Hi all,

one of my favourite old-school biodiesel/appropriate technology sites has always been http://journeytoforever.org/ made by Keith Addison. He also had a very interesting mailing list http://lists.eruditium.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/sustainablelorgbiofuel.

Well, Keith passed away in August and his partner notified list members this week. Keith had a great impact on my outlook towards sustainability and I thought it would be a nice tribute to mark his passing here.

My condolences to his wife, Midori.
What we think, we become.

His moderation of the mailing list was a glorious thing to behold. Any bull got called on and if someone couldn't back up their point they got the banhammer. Consequently, it was brimming full of smart, focused people (and me). It had wound down a bit recently, but looking through the archives is a delight.

Surprising, I actually found his place before I found this one. Back in 2003 ish, IIRC
Alfred Tennyson wrote:We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
