Thanks, Observerbrb. Congrats at having the #1 spot for a bit!

My father passed away on June 6th from complications after his surgery mentioned above (ultimately a massive stroke) as well as other multiple health issues. He lived a great life to age 87. I don't think I will live that long. He certainly raised the bar!

I've been busy with the family and more important matters than posting lately.

I'll post new scorecards when I can.

Sorry to hear that PeakOiler, I am sure your father was a great man.

We'll be waiting for you, take things easy in the meantime.

Thanks for the kind words you guys. (Y'all)

My Father retired from the US Air Force in 1971, after having served as a Defensive Systems Officer (DSO) aboard the B-58 Hustler bomber

in the 1960's (literally had his finger on the button to unload nukes over Cuba during the Cold War--all he needed were the final codes), among various jobs and assignments in other aircraft throughout his career, including photo reconnaissance of East Germany and surrounding areas in the 1950's, and serving in Vietnam escorting other aircraft on their bombing missions.

Kinda funny that such a hawk would produce a son that's so green. ;)

Here's the latest scorecard:

My condolences to you on the loss of your father, PeakOiler.

------------------------------------

I hope you live to 106 ---- and I hope you keep running this poll every single year. If the oil price challenge runs for another 40 years I might actually get lucky and win once.

I am sorry to hear about your loss of your father. I hope you find some comfort in the fact that he reached a high age. It sounds that he lived an eventful life where he experienced a lot of things. I always get sentimental when I think about all the tings (and hardship) people only one or two generations older than us experienced. One of my uncles was among those stationed in Germany right after WWII ended. What they lived through, and how peaceful we have it after all.
Hope to see you here more soon, PeakOiler :)

What? I can't believe I'm in second place! This has never happened to me before!

:) LOL
If KilonBerlin was not allowed to play (since his guesses were made after the deadline) you would be in first place, Revi!

Folks, I am not going to be the scorekeeper after this year, so y'all need to nominate a new scorekeeper for next year if you still want to play this game.

If the volunteer or nominee would like a copy of the Excel workbook I'm using, to use as a template for next year's game, please send me a PM giving me your email address and I'll send it to you.

I'm about to go visit the Grand Canyon next month using my T@G travel trailer and F-150. I estimate that I will burn at least 100 gallons of gas. Assuming the average price per gallon is ca. $2.40, I will spend about $439 for the round trip from Central Texas. I'm going to help ease the glut! LOL

I think it's your patriotic duty to visit the Grand Canyon, Peak Oiler! It also may be one of the only safe places to go, since there's not much forest to burn, and hurricanes can't seem to get there (yet...).
