There was a futures trading halt, but they are trading again. The plummet accelerated as it began to appear that Trump will win.

Also, the Canadian immigration website crashed due to the number of hits from the US. Kid you not.

Japan finance officials in emergency talks after U.S. election shock

Japan's top economic officials are scrambling to respond to the financial market turmoil unleashed by the U.S. presidential election.

The country's finance ministry and central bank were holding an emergency meeting Wednesday afternoon after wild trading in Japan's stock market and currency.

Japan wasn't the only country hit by the election fallout. Other Asian markets dropped, and U.S. stock futures plunged.

That slight difference in voting is what's keeping me from severe depression Kiwichick. At least we can say that only a slim majority of people in America believe in misogyny, racism and boorishness. But this is also a stark example of "Against ignorance the Goddess herself strives in vain."

As has been said though we are entering uncharted territory. For a taste of what may happen look at the state of Kansas. :-(

One possible silver lining: Trump's destruction of the global economy will probably curtail carbon emissions...

Another thing that pops into my head: Trump and his Republican allies will do some serious economic destruction. They'll curtail civil liberties, and foment racial and ethnic strife. That would be a situation ripe for an even more fascist-type candidate. A possible future for the American empire? Scary.

I'm thinking maybe New Zealand would be a good place to be.

I guess the DJIA is back up again today. We'll see. I really don't like what's happened, but at least we don't have a stock market crash on top of it all. There is plenty of time for that. I really hope he can hold this thing together for a couple more years.
