Florida to rely more heavily on tolls, gas tax unsustainable

“Bridges come with a huge price tag,” Prasad said. “The gas tax is not going to be sustainable. If you wait for gas tax money …. it’s 20 years before you’d be able to build a bridge.”

For a second there, I thought I read "trolls" instead of "tolls." But, without bridges, there'd be no need for trolls, would there? just being a little silly
I imagine the states will be coming up with all sorts of taxes and fees to cover the losses from fuel taxes. And, just think what's going to happen if the corn crops fail next year, too. Ethanol will really be an income loser for the government.

Florida has some of the most grossly overbuilt road infrastructure in the country already. There are towns like cape coral where 4 lane roads with turn lanes and signalized intersections bound hundreds of blocks with only a couple houses inside. They are terrified of leaving roads two lanes, coming from Massachusetts where a lot of state roads are still two lanes Florida is a dumbfounding traffic experience. The maintenance alone must be astronomical... though I suppose rust, salt and freeze-thaw, are less problematic.

than hurricanes, sinkholes, illegal immigrants, old people who shouldn't be driving, hundreds of non-native invasive reptile species, etc. Did I leave anything out?
