Regular today is EUR 1.70 /l . If my calculation is correct that would be $9.01 /usgal

This morning I found it hard to find an empty bicycle rack at work. Might be that it was the first good day in spring, but I guess the fuel prices also are starting to hit home.

And to think here in Australia we have a better economy than the US, we have a dollar above parity, we have lower government deficits, and yet we are paying about 70% more for our petrol. Hardly seems worth the effort.

Altho I am somewhat protected as I have an Dual Fuel car (LPG and Petrol). With LPG at about 62 cents a litre ($2.35 per gallon), it does work out quite well, even with the 20% less energy output you are supposed to get. Although as my system is a factory fitted one, I am able to get about 9 litres per 100 kilomtres, which is about $5.60 per 100 kilometres highway cycle. Very good figures for a Large car.

The tax on petrol is good ,it's a real tax on real things , it favor those who use gas carefully
and lessen tax on income

The Germans have near double our price and their car industry is feral with success
the U.S. brands are a disaster
...except , oh surprise their European component like Opel and Ford

$3.85 at the most expensive place in the nearest real "town" (more a village). I spoke to one of the owners last week, asked him if he thought we'd see $5/gal soon. He definitely thought so. Said it cost him $70,000 to fill up his tanks and that he couldn't really afford it so he only got partial fill ups, which is why his gas is more expensive. Noticed that they've been closed at least 2 or 3 times during the middle of the day the last few weeks. Wouldn't be surprised to see them close up for good, which sucks for me as that's the closest, cheapest place for propane.

ever fancied about paying $20 000 for a hernia surgery, or $150 000 for some useless college degree? Let me guess, neither did Sparky

In Perth yesterday i paid $1.42/L for regular unleaded.

With the AUD and USD basically at parity and a US Gallon = 3.78L that is about US$5.48/Gal.
LPG is about 1/2 that.

Ive paid for my education , it was moderate and tax deductible
as for health care , I've got my supplementary assurance on top of the free basic
it's partially tax deductible

of course Australia make a bundle supplying China with mountains of minerals
including mountains of coal ( 1st exporter in the world )
and we have no army to speak of

I was disgusted yesterday when it cost over $6 ($6.05) to fill my scooter yesterday for the first time. Luckely I only live 20 kilometers from work so I ride my pushbike everyday except friday's (Scooter Day) when I have way to many guinesses at lunch to ride my pushbike. At least a tank lasts a month so that isnt to bad I guess

€1.30 a litre in the Irish Midlands, up from its lowest last spring of €1.09/l
I have noticed a creep up price over recent weeks, I expect that trend to continue now the non OPEC countries have agreed to quotas.
