BTW, this simulation assumes exponential growth of consumption until reserves are exhausted, implying a drop to zero afterwards. Not our beloved bell shaped curves which suggest a much earlier peak followed by decline.

Likely, demand destruction in OECD countries due to the economic crisis will be offset by demand increase for developing countries as more resources will be needed to meet basic needs.
