On Saturday, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) captured the village of Mustajid Naqib and fully encircled the ISIS-held city of Raqqah. As a result of this development, ISIS units inside Raqqah lost an opportunity to leave the besieged city.

The Idlib Province in Syria is now the real islamic jihad terrorist hell on earth

Huge explosion rocks militant-held town in Idlib province
By Ivan Castro - 25/06/2017

Image

Powerful blast shook the town of Al-Dana in northern Idlib countryside on Saturday afternoon when a car bomb went off inside a crowded marketplace.

At least 10 people were killed as a result of the explosion, around 60 others injured. Most of the victims were civilians, with several militants killed as well...

The number of incidents rose dramatically since tensions had sharpened between Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS, Syrian Al-Qaeda branch) on the one side, and Ahrar Al-Sham, Failaq Al-Sham on the other side.

The latest skirmish took place earlier on Saturday, when HTS jihadists confronted local population of Salqin town in northern part of Idlib province.

In addition to that, sleeper cells of the so-called “Islamic State” have been active in the province as well.

Meanwhile in the Philippians the fight continues.

The government keeps saying it will be over in a week. It's now several weeks and they are saying it will be a while yet. Sounds like the have their hands full.

The ISIS annihilation is making huge progress:
Image
Entire ISIS leadership in Daraa pocket wiped out by mysterious assassination
By Chris Tomson - 29/06/2017

On Wednesday, a huge explosion rocked the ISIS-held town of Jallayn in southern Syria, resulting in the death of at least six jihadist commanders who were gathered for a meeting to discuss a coming offensive in western Daraa.

Reports regarding the incident are conflicting; some indicate a US warplane was involved while others claim a car bomb violently interrupted the meeting.

Nevertheless, six ISIS field commanders were confirmed dead due to the attack, namely: Abu Hamza Al-Komah, Abu Madeen, Abu Qassourah, Abu Oubidah Al-Shami, Ahmad Al-Ghazi and Abu Hashem...

That is clearly a Syrian Su-22 which is no longer operated by the Russian air force. It is not a Su-24 or any of the later models.

Mosul battle: Iraqi forces anticipate IS defeat

Unread postby dolanbaker » Sat 08 Jul 2017, 16:49:27

Well it looks like this phase of the war is almost over.
http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-middle ... -is-defeat

Iraqi government forces are battling to clear the last pockets of resistance from Islamic State militants in Mosul.

Military commanders say they are close to declaring a complete victory, but clashes are continuing.

Battle for Mosul: Iraq PM Abadi formally declares victory

Unread postby dolanbaker » Mon 10 Jul 2017, 11:48:26

Finally cleared isis out of Mosul.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-40558836

Iraq's prime minister has formally declared victory over so-called Islamic State (IS) in the city of Mosul.

Haider al-Abadi made the announcement at the operations room of the Counter-Terrorism Service, his office said.

He arrived in Mosul on Sunday, but had to delay making a declaration until a tiny pocket of resistance was cleared.

The battle for Mosul has taken almost nine months, left large areas in ruins, killed thousands of civilians and displaced more than 920,000 others.

Commanders from the US-led coalition that has provided air and ground support to Iraqi forces said the urban combat had been most intense since World War Two.

Syrian Army on the verge of entering Deir Ezzor from Raqqa
By Leith Fadel - 21/07/2017
Image
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) progressed more than 30km through the Al-Raqqa Governorate’s eastern countryside on Friday, putting them in position to enter the Deir Ezzor Governorate from its northwestern axis.

Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies from nearby tribes began the assault on Friday by surprising the Islamic State (ISIL) with an attack on their positions east of Resafa.

Unprepared and lacking manpower, the Islamic State forces were unable to hold their ground in the southeastern countryside of Al-Raqqa, resulting in their mass retreat across the province on Friday morning.

The total ISIS defeat in Syria is clear on the battlefield map

Image

Unlike the US coalition who wishes to preserve ISIS in Syria as a future card against the Damascus-Tehran-Moscow alliance, the objective of pro-government forces is clear, absolute and simple – for them ISIS, as the most fundamentally despotic and godforsaken entity to ever establish itself on Syrian soil, must be destroyed. With virtually all of the Syrian Army’s vanguard strength being directed against the so-called Islamic State to the effect of tens of thousands of troops and untold quantities of tanks and artillery – and with ISIS itself now facing the very real possibility of being expelled from the country by the end of the year – it appears that the perfect conditions for a Mother of all Battles are brewing in eastern Syria.
