P, O is now out of office.

Will the guy actually have to die before he stops being your favorite whipping boy?

And, as I recall, you're kinda living in a glass house, accusing him of hypocrisy for taking an airplane flight...or have you changed your 'wicked' ways??

So only 1.8 above last year's weekly figure. I imagine that as we go through last years El Nino-spiked numbers, we'll have many more weeks and months of apparent slowdown in the rate of growth in atmospheric CO2 levels. I hope people don't get too excited about this El Nino caused effect. It will take a number of non-El Nino years to know if we there is any real change in the long term trend.

Meanwhile, there's this:

https://www.skepticalscience.com/2017-S ... up_22.html

Carbon Dioxide Set an All-Time Monthly High

With May in the books, it’s official: carbon dioxide set an all-time monthly record. It’s a sobering annual reminder that humans are pushing the climate into a state unseen in millions of years.

Carbon dioxide peaked at 409.65 parts per million for the year, according to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It’s not a surprise that it happened. Carbon dioxide levels at Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii peak in May every year.

"409.65 parts per million". Sorry but when I see the global weighted average of CO2 in the atmosphere of the entire planet reported to two decimal places it still makes me grin.

I'm curious and I assume those of you into such stats can tell me: how many hundreds of stations around the globe are those measurements taken?

Actually there are only about 20 stations of record with the two most reported ones being on Mauna Loa, Hawaii, one ground station and the other doing hourly weather balloon launches.

Don't let the small number fool you though, past sampling demonstrated that CO2 takes about 24 months to spread from source to global saturation. The majority of emissions are in the north temperate zone and it takes not all that long for the levels read there to be equaled by readings at the south pole station, which is as far as you can get away physically. Two years is nothing on a geological time scale, or even compared to ocean timelines with the 1000 year overturning cycle.
II Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

@ T worrying that after an El Nino year we are still getting close to an additional 2 ppm this year........a blue arctic this year could be another step towards chaos

It appears we have passed the 2017 peak and though we came close we did not yet break the 410 ppmv for CO2 consistently this year.

I'm not sure if you can call that dodging a bullet, since it's pretty well guaranteed that we will bust through that milestone next year. But I guess it's perhaps some kind of comfort?

And the rate of heating doesn't seem to have abated as one might have thought it would after an El Nino:

How low will we go? Just a couple of months to annual minimum folks, what do you predict will happen?

Are we talking monthly low?

As T's numbers show, coming off of an El Nino year, annual growth is down to a bit over 2 ppm. So with last year's September low at about 401, I'm thinking the average for September this year will be about 2 above that, so 403.xx.
