South America plans to become "independent"?

Unread postby Barbara » Tue 01 Jun 2004, 08:25:55

I've read this on an Italian Energy Gazette, sorry no english sources.
"The Argentina Minister of Federal Planning announced a meeting, in the upcoming days, with representatives of Brazil, Venezuela (oil) and Bolivia (gas) in order to discuss the creation of a Latina America energy company, and make energy trade agreements among countries."
Is Venezuela planning to leave OPEC? Are they looking for new markets? Are the Latin Countries secretly planning to become independent from outer world oil? Are they preparing for the crisis to come?
