Show me a pic where those pro west protesters beat anyone with those bats.

I watched this thing from start to finish -- pics, youtube vids. If anything, I found it interesting how in the riot vids they never even wanted to hurt the police. They grab them, pull them down, but you never saw any violence and it was like people were trying to be careful.

If Russia scares its customers then Russia risks losing its customers to someone else who won't scare them:

Europe Considering Increasing U.S. Gas Imports, Says U.K.'s Hague
Foreign Secretary Says Countries May Review Ties With Russia

And then Russia will just have to go through the expense of building new pipelines to India and / or China. And then the EU and Russia won't be so tied together anymore and down the road we'll have cold war again.

And then maybe the Chinese turn the tables on Russia and meddle in Russia, once they are dependent on Russian gas and leased farmland in Russia. Think about that for a sec.

So what's the point of this? Why is Russia doing all this? :|

Gee, no sh*t sherlock, stop selling them weapons. Same goes for German military exports to Russia.

You don't sell weapons to someone that threatens to shut your gas off, does unilateral illegal invasions, and has built a "lean, mean, fighting machine" custom designed to regime change in Europe. Doesn't even make any sense, Europe now talking about boosting defense spending and Poles and Estonians panicking yet Britain and Germany will keep selling military gear to Russia.

This should have been done, already, total ban on military exports to Russia.

Russia’s decision to deploy troops in Crimea is a direct and flagrant violation of international law, writes an expert at the University of Manitoba.

Russia’s incursion into Crimea, a constituent part of Ukraine with considerable political and economic importance, has once again brought the issue of aggression under international law to the forefront of world affairs.

Obama to host the president of Ukraine at the White House:

Obama Meets With Ukraine Prime Minister Wednesday

President Barack Obama will meet this week with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the White House said Sunday, in a prominent show of U.S. support for Ukraine's fledgling new government.

UK to do some travel bans and asset freezes on selected Russians, Russia "effectively thrown out of the G8," Obama admin doesn't accept the Crimean referendum:

Details of sanctions against Russia to be finalised in London

In Washington, the White House gave its strongest indication yet that Russia is effectively being thrown out of the G8 group of industrialised nations on Monday, and insisted the world community would refuse to accept the results of a Crimean referendum later in the week.

Carney said a referendum in Crimea, scheduled for Sunday, "would not be legal under Ukraine's constitution and therefore would not be accepted by the United States and its international allies and partners".

Really, this thing in Crimea is totally illegal. You can't just invade a place and then hold a referendum for the place to join your country / regime change separatist state allied to you.

But if you look at international arm sales movements, you will note that they have less to do with challenges to illegal acts but to realpolitik. The implication is that as time goes by, arms deals between military powers will resume.
