You can't post an image directly from your hard drive.

I notice we have an "Upload Attachment" feature below the post form.

Can this be used to upload images?

I see an "upload in progress" box, but no attachment appears on my post.

Has anyone else been having trouble loading pictures?

Recently, Imageshack has changed their image codes, stating that only thumbnail code for forums such as this one, "to save bandwidth", could be used. But the thumbnail images are just too small to see any detail.

Photobucket now only gives me an error saying something like "Invalid function" when I click on "Load Image."

Tinypic gives me an error message stating "Upload failed" after selecting the image and clicking on "upload".

What is going on? Is the problem with my computer's browser, the hosting service, or po.com?

As most of y'all know, I have posted pictures before, but something seems to have changed.

Any hints?

I think they are put in by a moderator after having a look at what was posted.
So I think you just have to wait and it will take care of itself...

I don't believe this site puts photos into a personal photo album directories.
Can you give some more details regarding what you mean or what
you're asking?

If you submit a photo, does it go to the photo album or do you have to do something else to get a photo on the photo album?

Thanks, lys3rg0, thanks, steam_cannon! I will give it a try because I know how annoying it is when large photos distort the margins and require scrolling across to read the text. Cheers. MrBill..

How to resize photos for the web

MrBill wrote:I am using www.photobucket.com to upload my images for posting as an URL. But there is no way to resize them and so sometimes they distort the size of the screen if they are too large. Any suggestions for making the images smaller? Thanks. MrBill.
I haven't checked into photobucket, but here is how to do it with http://tinypic.com
It's just one easy step.

photobucket's resize function is not on the upload page...

eta: you can install the Image Resizer from Microsoft's XP PowerToys pack and it will allow you to resize the images before you upload them.

download link

it will place an option in the menu you get when you right click a file... it also works on multiple files so you can select and resize all your pics at once.

http://imagepile.net and http://tinypic.com both do not require registration and make it easy to post up as many pictures as you want. I prefer tinypic.com so the following instructions are for that site.

Steps for tinypic.com
1. Click on browse then select your picture and click open.
2. Click on "upload now".
3. Select the image link between the "img" tags
4. Paste that to your posts.

P.S. be kind and resize your pictures so they are no larger then they need to be. Large pictures take a long time to see for people with slow connections.

What about posting a photo off of my hard drive? Must I upload it to online first or is there a way to post it directly here?

You can't post an image directly from your hard drive. Use imageshack.us or imagepile.net
Like the test above, not working at least as far as the preview is showing.

When you want to put a picture in here, the url that you put between the <img> tags must end in jpg or some other graphic extension. In this case it doesn't work because what you did is you put the url of a web page that contains a picture, not the url of the picture itself. Even if you somehow find out the address of the pic and put it here, Yahoo Photos doesn't let you put their pictures on other sites... so it will never show. Sometimes it will show for you, because the pic is already in your browser's cache and is loading from there, but nobody else will see it.

Plus, if you post yahoo photos links everyone will know your yahoo id
