Nice picture SPG, but do you have a picture of you in the shorts that you seem to have to keep holding on to? 8O

Looks like an up day today.

I heard on Bloomberg, one 'guest' suggesting that the stock market would go up before the end of the year, saying that in the (tradionally) light trade around and after Christmas it should be easy to move the index higher.

actually, this is the exact opposite of how the IRS audits. If you are under $100K and either misstate or omit something that has a 1099 or w2, they will simply correct your return and send the bill. 100% chance of being corrected. you will never be audited because your return in not complicated. if your income is over 100K and the return becomes more complicated, your chances of being audited drop to 4% or 5%. if you are uber-rich, your tax team is better than the IRS and they know it. so they only get nailed in conjunction with other federal or state investigations.

7 Minutes after the bell we are up 60 pts on the Dow. According to SPG's first bar rule we should have a green day today. Though I don't think it will be a very strong up day. Maybe up 115pts at the final bell?

Right at the moment, I'd have to say I'm not buying that prediction for today. I think the futures traders were smoking a bunch of crack this morning. So far the market feels just like yesterday. Low volume, unenthused, and gravity dominated.

Consider...yesterday the futures were predicting a 200 point drop. In the first 5 minutes, we dropped 400 points. Today they were predicting a 100 point gain. In the first five minutes, we got 66 points. Not very impressive, especially when you consider we were starting from outside the bollinger bands on a bunch of the time periods.

Currently wiping off the coffee I just spit all over my monitor. Thanks for the morning laugh SPG.

Yeah it certainly doesnt look like there is alot of motivation for an upward move.

+189 at 11:33 EST. I wonder if it will hold. My guess is no.

The only prediction that I'm willing to make is that the "long term" aka (6 months) trend is down.
Aside from that what happens next day or next week I have given up on making predictions.
I've made too many bad ones already.

+45 and falling. I might be right here. Red might be the color of the day.

Did I miss an announcement or something? Why did the market just get all crazy?

They can't let it fall below 8,000 during Holiday shopping. That would be a psychological jolt. But then again...... * puts on tin foil hat*

I dunno. Sounds about as good as anything I can come up with right at the moment.

One step forward and two steps back should be the DOW's country theme song.
