Expert Status and Colourful Stars

I think I've hit upon a way of keeping those seeking status happy.

All those who donate to the site get a colourful set of stars (gold would be cool) for a month. That way, those seeking status have it within their grasp to influence the situation, whilst helping fund Aaron's [s]holidays[/s] servers.

Having said that, given the poor performance of the Donat-O-Meter, I guess it would be beyond the technical ability of the staff to link donations to star colour </challenge>

Hawkwind were (practically) my local band when I lived in England. We had an impromptu party with them after a gig about 15 years ago (they were too stoned to get home - grin) and they're good fun to be with (although Dave Brock after a gig is a moody bastard & won't talk to anyone). Have bumped into them now and again ever since.

Best thing to do in a Hawkwind set is to plonk your beer on to of the speakers, pull the front off, stick your head inside the cone and yell, 'I STILL can't hear anything!'. They love it (grin)...

Oh the usual kit I guess. Probably not good at small-picture, though. Might end up smiting the wrong country by mistake (or on my case, having the wrong glasses on).

Go to YouTube and watch the BBC doc on Hawkwind to hear some really funny shit. Lemmy talking about the synth players using super high frequency noise to make police dogs involuntarily howl while searching for drugs, or how the band abandoned him in America and he had to hitch a ride with an obviously horny male trucker...

I'm only 36. Think I discovered Hawkwind on Kazaa, was curious about where Lemmy came from. Everything old is new, you know.

Unfortunately they seem to have a tight lock on what shows up on YouTube and elsewhere. There's a site called the Internet Archive where you can listen to about two years straight of the Dead, but nary a note from Brock and Co. Strange for a band that used to do whole tours of free concerts.
