Hyperloop

This forum does not have a sub section for transport, so I am putting this where the Electrical Vehicle thread is...

Hyperloops have the potential for very fast transport, and so, if there was a wide enough network it might take away from the airlines.

I have no idea yet of the energy requirement vis-a-vie the other personnel transport modes but this is another vision from the same stable as Tesla   :P

https://www.inverse.com/article/30029-hyperloop-one-11-routes-across-the-united-states

And 9 more routes proposed for Europe.https://yle.fi/uutiset/osasto/news/new_hyperloop_plans_could_include_helsinki-tallinn_connection/9655016

ps. I don't think I will ever be able to afford to own a Tesla  , but one of the earlier proposed routes (Helsinki - Turku/Åbo -Stockholm) is one that I might use.

"if there was a wide enough network it might take away from the airlines." And might be a profitable investment. Unlike the Chunnel under the English Channel. It was planned to eliminate a lot of boat and airline transport. Which it did by getting the ridership used in the economic analysis. But unfortunately folks wouldn't pay the fair the model used. As a result the investment never turn a profit even though it had a positive cash flow.

If hypeloop or any future high speed rail is built it will be interesting to see how realistic those THEORETICAL economic models might be.
