Rogue Wave analogy

Unread postby Revi » Mon 16 May 2016, 10:03:53

Here's an excellent article by Cog. The rogue wave is a good analogy. It brings to mind NYC and Hurricane Sandy. Nobody expected it to happen, and it was a disaster. This guy is talking about a rogue wave in the financial system and how it could happen any time. Any port in a storm!

I think the Rogue wave in the financial system will probably be a collapse dynamic in the US from either market instabilities or hyper deflation followed by inflation. Or it could also be China and some other countries being dragged down by Debt impeding smooth economic functionality and that creating deleterious economic waves all over the planet.

I really like his chart of the demise of reserve currencies. It's interesting that they all seem to last around 100 years, and then are immediately replaced by another. I think the Chinese are lining up for that job. One thing is that we got along relatively well with the British, who we replaced. Let's hope the transition is as smooth this time.

That rant kind of sums up my world view.

But it's not real useful unless there are some specifics which help you plan.

Our plan, lacking any credible specifics, is to highly stress flexibility and mobility. We have been lucky to be able to do so.

Only time will tell.
