The article was OK, but it was David Frum who is a passable writer and certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He's the Canadian neocon who explains American politics to Americans (thanks for that), and when I catch him on the radio I say "Who is that idiot? oh, it's Frum."

The political parties are two sides of the same coin: junior partners of Big Business. Both have been operating to create a growing middle class which, together with other groups, is dependent on increasing credit and use of energy and material resources. At the same time, each group--government, the military, the middle class, businesses, etc.--look out for its own interests.
