FWIW was just down at fry electronics (in san diego) and happened to find a copy of daniel yergin's "the prize" an 8 part PBS doc on dvd

since it's an older documentary the video quality is not up to typical DVD standards (i.e poor video quality when viewed on a HD plasma hooked up to a digital amp w/ separate book stereo speakers which makes for a good modern home theater system), BUT if one is looking for a great content on the history of how oil changed politics and the economy from about the 1860's till about the 1990's this is a worthy addition to your library on the the topic of "peak oil"

the cost was a reasonable $8 and it's a 2 disk set published by mill creek entertanment

I found it on Amazon Prime Video so I watched it, pretty good and pretty even handed.
