Yep.

That's the thing about confusing shopping with resiliency. Resiliency is what you have left when all the stuff you bought on your prepping list blows away.

No, we're fine, thanks for asking. There was a line about 20 miles north and the one that hit Branson is about 40miles south. It seems many storms from the east split exactly that way, it sometimes makes us droughty-er than other places but I'll take that, knock on wood.

Yahoo! has an article about the Doomsday Preppers...reading the comments are so funny.

Scott Hunt wants to help you prepare for doomsday

Just watched an episode #8, where the prepper was afraid of peak oil. Obviously most real Peak Oil preppers have chosen to keep a low profile and this was the best guy they could talk into going public. There analysis at the end was lame ,stating that some experts thought peak oil was decades away.

This is Jeremy, the person you are referring to in that episode. And I think I'm a little bit offended by your comments. I actually consider myself fairly well informed on peak oil, so though I'm certainly not "the best guy" in the world on the subject, I actually spoke quite eloquently and in a lot of detail about peak oil. Of course they cut most of it out for time, and so they could show our truck driving around a lot (which admittedly makes for good TV).

I too was bothered by the analysis, of course peak oil is much sooner than decades away, but that seems to be the trend on the show. Show people preparing for something, and then play down the likelihood of that thing happening.

That being said, overall I'm pleased with how they presented my family. And the whole reason we chose to go on the show and sacrifice some of our "opsec" was because we felt it was a great opportunity to get the word about peak oil to a national/international audience.

Hi Jeremy. I haven't seen the episode you're referring to, I'll have to see if I can find it on Youtube, though last I checked they took all the episodes down.

Good to hear you're happy with Nat Geo's portrayal, I've wondered if they've taken liberties with some of the people on the show. Or if some of the people have taken liberties with Nat Geo

I'm sorry if I offended you and I do realise that what you said and the fragment they choose to air or print are often very different things.Been there done that.
I congratulate you on having the courage to bring the peak oil message to the public at the expense of your family privacy.

If you're on TV then you're a celebrity at that point, so don't take offense if you see comments on the internet. People don't mean it personally.

Very cool that you posted! I don't think I saw your episode, but I watch the show sometimes. Anyhow welcome to the forum.

I somewhat like the series and a lot of the people come off fairly well, however I found the peoople who ate bugs in one episode and the guy drinking piss put through a home made water filter to be over the top.

If it's definitely purified, then really it's just water. Astronauts do that in space.

I saw one method on survivor man, I forget the details, but he wound up with pure water. Of course we're not going to run out of water in all our lakes rivers and oceans so.. I would think that's easier to purify than one's urine.

(easiest thing to do is just build a rain cistern)
