Successful con-artists will push whichever button works best on their mark.
There is often a combination of factors.
Yes, but in this case
(Rossi et al) it is so easy to assess the case that it doesn't sound like some evil scam for me anymore.
It is more like a joke.
1. Basic physics dealing with issues like Coulomb forces (primary school physics really) is defeated.
On the top of it plenty of more advanced physics is defeated too.
2. An inventor is already known as a con artist and this knowledge is freely available on the Internet.
3. Inventor has a difficulties while dealing with primary school physics what can be seen on his lectures (videos freely available on Internet).
4. Supporters of fraud (like Aussie Guy or whoever he is) are blatantly unintelligent with their arguments and yet purporting some advanced knowledge.
Anyway
Aussie Guy have pissed off from here even before you came.
5. Cold fusion was investigated in the past and refuted.
6. Purported factories of miracle devices (say Deflakion) are not there and basic investigation of satellite maps is revealing that.
7. Purported big customers buying 1 MW versions are phantom.
Well, sorry that does not even look like a scam for me (EEStor was a legitimate scam btw).
I conclude that those cheated by peoples like Rossi do *deserve* it.
It will be a valuable lesson for them and anything what Rossi got paid should be considered a tuition fee.
Few years ago about *any* mortgage lender was a far more serious and dangerous fraudster than few clowns like this Rossi are.
