Ultimately it is to do with our interest, personality. On the individual level we have to make a choice to be informed and try and change our ways.

I have known of this subject for seven years, and I haven't done anything to prepare for a future with less energy. There are some reasons for that, but at the end of the day, it is like Mr Heinberg stated many years ago, we can all return to the real world we live in, the world of crude that has provided us in the western world with the standard and comforts of living to age groups throughout the past century. And that nothing will change, which is the illusion.
