HEAT Waves 2018

Not only was the 2017/2018 summer New Zealand's hottest on record, a meteorologist says a particularly tropical week in Auckland was comparable to living in Fiji.

Niwa's Ben Noll said Auckland endured climate conditions similar to Fiji or New Caledonia for a near five-day period from February 5.

That was when the dew point, a measure of both humidity and temperature, for Auckland failed to drop below 19 degrees for 115 hours.

"It was as if you were transported 5 degrees or 10 degrees north in latitude for a period of time."

Overall, it's been the country's hottest summer on record. And there are still five days to go.

Data released on Friday from climate agency Niwa shows temperatures are running 2.3 degrees Celsius above average.

Warm weather here in Northern California has been real nice -- I've been like a frog sitting in a pot of water getting ready to boil. The cold weather had returned this month and it's like nostalgia, this is what it use to be like. How delicious!

The winters are shorter and the spring/summers are longer until, the winters disappear, in my estimation of what is likely.

This article seems to hit at what we suspect is happening:
So, the world ends not with a bang but with the weather: not with a thermonuclear Armageddon, but with the slow melting of glacial ice, with the creeping scourge of drought, with top soil blowing lazily away, with trees stressed and lightning stricken, with the soft lap of flood water, with the low buzz of disease carrying mosquitos that follow; with the almost imperceptible warming of the oceans, with their swelling, with their perturbation of the air into a violent cyclogenesis and with their slowly increasing acidification.

According to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang blog, the worst of the heat was parked on top of Pakistan, which saw its hottest weather for so early in the season. On March 30, the temperature in Nawabshah, in Sindh Province, hit 45.5 degrees Celsius, or 113.9 degrees Fahrenheit. This beat the old monthly record of 45 degrees Celsius, or 113 degrees Fahrenheit, which was set in March of 1991

‘Temperatures, which are likely to cross 45° Celsius’
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked the people to take precautionary measures to avoid from heat and the heatwaves, which are going to be abnormal this year.

Mr. Naidu on Tuesday tweeted cautioning about the temperatures, which are likely to cross 45° Celsius in many mandals in the State during this summer. He asked the people to take steps to prevent sunstrokes.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director and Scientist Y.K. Reddy during a recent press conference warned that there would be normal and above normal heatwave conditions in Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next two months. “An average of one degree Centigrade and above temperatures and heatwaves are likely to occur for more than 40 days this year,” Mr. Reddy said.
