The deniers have moved their arguments. Now, the world is warming but it is more good than bad for us.

More graphs:

At +1.35C above the 51-80 average, the GISS temperature for February was warmest on record by +0.47C.

The 12 month rolling average is now at +0.93C

It should be clear even to you that the Paris Accord Obama put together to stop global warming isn't working. The world is already hitting the T limit that O promised the climate deal would prevent us from hitting

Anecdotally, if my location is any indicator, March will be worse than February. An already warm winter simply vanished into late spring temps. It's like nature decided to skip a couple of months. Since things are already sprouting and blooming, another hard freeze will be devastating. Fruit and nut trees already budding out, some at least a month early. Brambles are leafing out a month early, and some blueberry bushes are in bloom. Yikes!

It's been incredibly warm so far here, too (MN). After today, we cool off to only about 10 degrees F above normal, but still the lows are going to be about where the highs should be this time of year.

I haven't checked, though, what's happening globally. The Arctic is cooling off a bit, it seems, but I'm not sure about the overall global average so far this month. Does anyone have a bead on that, or want to pipe in with what's happening so far this month in their neck of the woods?

It is, but I don't blame Obama for that. At least he did something. I'm tired of your childish attempt to simplify problems as the responsibility of only leaders which are ultimately about tragedy of the commons. BTW, how about your own careless CO2 emissions flying around lately? Care to take any ownership of YOUR role in this? Nah, better to just kick sand at Obama.

Raining and chilly today in NYC but people were wearing t-shirts over the weekend. Haven't had to wear an overcoat at all in the past week.

Common sense says to me that it doesn't matter what we say about it (meaning the 99 %), ---things will continue to get worse until the elite start to feel the pain. At that point they will figure out a way to be the only ones in the lifeboats - if there are any available.
Our last few days will be spent in war against the other side (the red or blue team that you are convinced cheated to win the pennant), never knowing that it was a rigged game all along.

Planty is the last person to consult on policy positions with respect to AGW. The guy lives in the petro state of Alaska and supported Sarah Palin in 2008 and has yet to express an ounce of regret over it. He also does not come close to leading a carbon neutral lifestyle himself, admitting to a recent jet flight. So he's a typical human being who likes to externalize blame. Scapegoating, period.

Fingerpointing does nothing but run you in circles.

Gosh what a dope you are, ennui2y.

Do you live a carbon neutral lifestyle yourself?

And I suppose you don't fly on airplanes either?

Its bad enough you've turned into a troll, ennui2y, but do you have to be a flaming hypocrite as well?

I know you think it is impossible that the Rs would make progress on GW, but don't forget it was the Rs who did rather a nice job of negotiating and writing a binding UN CO2 reduction treaty at the Bali Conference in 2007. Unfortunately, this treaty wasn't ratified at the 2009 Copenhagen Conference, thanks to Obama's bungling, and then Obama and Ds abandoned altogether the drive to a binding treaty to reduce CO2 and instead shifted to new idea of getting a treaty that outlaws temperature increases.

Six years later the Paris Accord of 2015 was pushed through by Obama and the Ds, locking the world into a worthless Accord which outlaws global Temp rising more than 2°C but doesn't even contain the words "fossil fuels" and does nothing to reduce CO2 emissions. In fact, the Paris Accords actually allow unlimited CO2 production. Don't forget---even McDonald has signed on to support Obama's Paris accords.

Thanks Ds----for coming up with a climate treaty so weak and ineffectual and meaningless that even McDonalds can support it!

I hate to break it to you, AD, but you too are akin to our animal brethren. It turns out that you and me and every human ever born is not only akin to animals but actually is an animal. Yup---human beings are animals. We are part of nature. Our DNA is almost identical to the DNA of apes, and only slightly different from the DNA of many other animals.

Of course a scientific illiterate like yourself wouldn't know that. If Karl Marx didn't write something in the communist holy book, you know nothing about it

Hey, Plant. Are you still in the Aegean? Did you happen to witness any of the refugee situation while you were there, by any chance. There was just something on about the situation in Kos, not far from Rhodes.

I'm just back. I posted about my observations of the refugees in one of the refugee threads. Briefly, when I took the ferry from Patmos to Athens it had about 500 refugees on it----it was pretty amazing to see. It was a night ferry, and I was too cheap to get a cabin so I slept up in the open air solarium with the refugees. When we got to Piraeus at Athens all the Greeks got off the ferry first, and then the refugees rolled up their bedrolls and the moms picked up their babies and I got my backpack and we exited the ferry. The TV cameras were rolling when we exited the ferry, so if you see some footage of hundreds of tired bedraggled refugees exiting a ferry with a really good looking Alaskan guy right in the middle of the crowd, thats me.

There were thousands of refugees camped out in a refugee village right on the concrete dock---apparently some refugees get off the ferry and get stuck right †here.

I went on by another ferry to Hydra---the car-free island south of Athens for four days of hiking.

It was truly wonderful to live in a society that is free of cars---if only for four days.

Cheers!

My daughter was just in Hydra, so if you saw a good looking young Minnesota gal there, it was probably her!

Thanks for the updates.
