Energy emissions stall

Energy emissions stall

Carbon pollution levels stayed flat for the second year in a row last year new data show, even though the global economy kept growing, in a sign that efforts to tackle climate change may be bearing fruit faster than thought

Sorry but this is a fantasy, global carbon dioxide loading increased more year over year than any time in the geological or recent record.
Alfred Tennyson wrote:We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I am dubious, too. As I understand it, a lot of this is based on reporting from China, but they have been notoriously...slippery about their reporting on energy and emissions in the past, often filing official figures, only to 'adjust' them, sometimes quite significantly, much later.

In some ways, it could be even more worrying if true: if atmospheric concentrations are skyrocketing as we human emissions are stalling, it either means that El Nino is having an even bigger effect on CO2 levels than expected, or more ominously, that carbon feedbacks are already really starting to kick in in a big way.

As a Marxist I found the article a little questionable as this is not the way accumulative systems work. They are by their very nature open ended despite the best of intentions. There is a great deal of muddle headedness in capitalism in amongst the innovation. I was hoping someone had data to counter these assertions.

Someone will hopefully resolve my doubt.

+1 D

we have major problems if our emissions are leveling out and at the same time , as T pointed out , the actual loading in the atmosphere is still increasing, possibly at an increasing rate

either other sources, (permafrost ? ) are increasing

or sinks , ( oceans ) are failing

or both
