Shhh. Please, not so loud or I'll get busted. I don't want this project to fail. It's really close ... almost complete. :)

Dude, calm down. I promise, you'll get your collapse. And it will unfold just like it did in my little bedtime story. Oh yeah!

ZOMG!

I haven't been back to this thread, but am in the middle of the book, and it's freaky because it feels pretty close to actually happening. In fact I PM'd the sequel question before I noticed it in a post above, so it MUST happen. :-D

I'll get at least a dozen folks hooked, all of them doubters but they have faith in me, and therefore in eastbay.

I guess this is how stuff goes "viral".

Bought it on Amazon.com and read it in two evenings. I enjoyed it, even the peak oil preachy parts.

I thought some of you might be interested to meet (in a recent video) Big Joe Hancock: the real-life character upon whom one of the main characters in Shut Down is based. He's the Real Deal, folks.

As you can see, he's almost exactly as described in the book. 6' 3", 250+ lbs. No fat. He's the younger man lifting the bar to the older man in this sterile and spartan army weight room.

I got the book today. I'm looking forward to some reading. The picture of Will on the back finally puts some face on an otherwise anonymous forum poster. Most interesting.

BTW, I'm not sure if I ever did get round to reviewing the first book. It was a good read! I have an issue with one aspect, but that doesn't spoil the fun.

I just ordered both from Amazon. Hopefully my head cold and downtime will hang in there another couple days so I can read them NOW

Thanks pstarr, Basil H and Dave!

If I were to write it again there are a few things I would change, too. Issues, aspects or omissions in storyline do seem to arise, generally oversights brought to my attention by readers. I believe my writing has improved some with Buck.

PM me if you have ideas for improvement, or critical questions. My email address is on the copyright page.

Shut Down is laced with the suggestions of others. The manner in which the crash unfolds, the plot itself, has, thankfully, survived critical review and THAT is the scary part. A complete unravelling of everything as outlined in Shut Down could occur in one day.

I'm working on Book Three. It's a icy winter adventure of the Corbett community set some years down the road, and am open to integrating any helpful input.

The Kindle version is now also available. The link is below:

Buck is a novel describing the fictitious account of a small town two years after an apocalyptic economic crash caused primarily by peak oil. Enjoy! :)

Just bought it, since I don't have a kindle, I'll try reading it on my droid. I really need to break down and buy a kindle touch.

Yes, there's an free 'n easy Android Kindle app.

I read mostly on my HTC EVO phone, plugging along a few minutes here and there during the day. At home I'll use the Kindle device ... the larger screen makes it easier.

Yummy! Couldn't put Buck down. *****

It was like the familiarity with the characters helped in the understanding of the situation's unfolding, or aftermath.

Lots of places to go for Number 3 and boy howdy do I have some suggestions.

Thanks Bill!
