Syria: KURDISH YPG ATTACKING TURKISH-BACKED MILITANTS IN NORTHERN ALEPPO

On October 25, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) launched a series of attacks on the alliance of Turksih-backed militan groups known as the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the area northwest of Al-Bab in the Syrian province of Aleppo.

By now, YPG units have entered the villages of Til Madîq, Hecinê, Qarami, Jabal Na’i and Mişerefê and engaged pro-Turkish militants in the villages. Some pro-Kurdish sources argue that some villages have been already taken.

The YPG took an apper hand on the recent decision by the Turkish Armed Forces and their proxies to halt offensive operations in the direction of Kurdish-controlled town of Tell Rifaat....

Amateur footage emerged on Saturday showing what appears to be Turkish soldiers executing two female PKK insurgents at point-blank range.

A ceasefire between Turkey and the PKK ended last year and clashes have since claimed hundreds of lives on both sides.

Turkish warplanes hit outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Dec. 7, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Warplanes destroyed a shelter and a weapon emplacement in an air operation, the Turkish Armed Forces said in a written statement.

Meanwhile, PKK militants attacked the provincial building of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) with a hand-made bomb on Dec. 6.

The TAK, an offshoot of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), made the claim on its website.

Turkish media also confirmed the shelling.

Interesting that the UN is absolut calm about the illegal Turkish bombartment and invasion in Syria

The SDF is a legitim Syrian people (Kurds) Organisation => it is indeed an Act of War against Syria so the SAA +SDF has the right to strike back and defend Syria against Turkey.

Turkish Army uses ISIS as an excuse to attack Kurdish forces in northern Syria
By Leith Fadel - 14/02/2017

The Turkish Army and their rebel associates have recently intensified their attacks against the Kurdish-led “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) in northern Syria, despite the fact they are nowhere near the front-lines with the Islamic State (ISIS).

Turkish-backed rebels boasted on their social media accounts, Tuesday, about targeting the Kurdish forces in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

The constant harassment of the Kurdish forces is part of the Turkish Army’s plan in Syria, as their battle with the Islamic State is just a facade that is hiding their true intentions.

Rojava is the only left basic democratic structure in the whole Region despite Israel.

That the new Turkish Dictator Erdogan whants to destroy it is logical because he wants this piece of Syria for "Great Turkey".

BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:25 P.M.) – The Turkish Army transported several vehicles to the northern countryside of Aleppo this weekend in order to beef up their numbers before launching an attack against the Kurdish-led “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF).

Photos from the Menbeij area of Aleppo emerged on Saturday, showing the Turkish Army transporting several armored vehicles towards their main front-line against the Kurdish forces.

This latest move by the Turkish Army comes just 48 hours after their president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, vowed to capture Menbeij from the “PKK forces.”

Knowing a bit about the history of the region I've always thought the thread title a bit off. The armed conflict between the Kurds and Turkey officially began some time ago. From wiki:

The Kurdish–Turkish conflict is an armed conflict between the Republic of Turkey and various Kurdish insurgent groups, which have demanded separation from Turkey to create an independent Kurdistan, or to have autonomy and greater political and cultural rights for Kurds inside the Republic of Turkey. The main rebel group is the Kurdistan Workers' Party or PKK (Kurdish: Partiya Karkerên Kurdistan). Although insurgents have carried out attacks in many regions of Turkey, the insurgency is mainly in southeastern Turkey. The PKK's presence in Iraq's Kurdistan Region, from which it also launched attacks, has resulted in the Turkish military carrying out frequent ground incursions and air and artillery strikes in the region. The conflict has cost the economy of Turkey an estimated 300 to 450 billion dollars, mostly military costs. It has also affected tourism in Turkey.

Since the PKK was founded on 27 November 1978, it has been involved in armed clashes with Turkish security forces. The full-scale insurgency, however, did not begin until 15 August 1984, when the PKK announced a Kurdish uprising. The first insurgency lasted until 1 September 1999, when the PKK declared a unilateral ceasefire. The armed conflict was later resumed on 1 June 2004, when the PKK declared an end to its ceasefire. Since summer 2011, the conflict has become increasingly violent with resumption of large-scale hostilities. In 2013 the Turkish Government and the jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan started talks. On 21 March 2013, Öcalan announced the "end of armed struggle" and a ceasefire with peace talks. On July 25, 2015, the PKK finally cancelled their 2013 ceasefire after a year of tension due to various events, including the Turks bombing PKK positions in Iraq, in the midst of the Kurds' battle against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Kurds urge Trump to establish ‘safe zones’ in northern Syria
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/ku ... ern-syria/
BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:26 P.M.) – Over 150,000 IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) have arrived in Manbij recently, said Shervan Derwish, Kurdish official spokesperson for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), suggesting that the areas under SDF control could become safe zones that US President Donald Trump has called for, ARA News reported.

“During this month, over 150k IDPs reached Manbij area, coming from Deir Hafer and al-Khafsah, proving our area as a safe zone for Syrian civilians,” Darwish said.

“The protection of displaced people and refugees is our moral and humanitarian obligation, and we will give them all support needed,” he added.

“If there is a project for no-fly-zones in Syria, all conditions are possible in the areas under the SDF control,” he suggested....
