As the OP of a thread, is there a way to prevent a specific user from posting to it?
I don't want to simply put them on my ignore list - I want to prevent them from posting to a thread where I'm the OP.
Nor do I want to prevent them from posting to other user's threads, just one of mine. I'm also happy for them to post to my other threads, just not a specific one.
So is it possible to do a one-user, one-thread ban? |

I appreciate your succinct answer.
Is there a long answer? Is there a workaround or some way of getting close to what I want? Is there anything other than the ignore list? |

I suspect not as such a measure would go against the very intent of sites like this which is to generate debate. There has been many an occasion when I have felt like you do but alas free speech means not only being uplifted by our ideological friends, but being assailed by our enemies as well. _________________ Bugger me, I hear oil's runnin out mate! |

I totally agree with you americandream but this person is neither friend nor foe.
My problem is that they don't know how to debate - they have their own agenda which is nothing to do with my thread. I'm sure you know the sort.

I know the sort like I know myself. _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. Many more than half will die. It will occur everywhere, including where you live. If you fail to recognize this, then your odds of living move toward the "going to die" group. |

I am always a big fan of the polite request delivered by PM.
Give that a try.

If you were the Secretary of the Treasury you could.
You could only allow the people you want to post, and they could only make positive comments. There would be a policy against challenging these comments too. No exceptions.
If they made a negative comment you could just edit it. Then you could give lots of someone else's money to your friends who made positive comments, and tell everyone that the money was spent in the best interest of all the forum members. |

You are distorting my question.
I asked if it is possible to ban a specific user from a specific thread, that's all. |

Jeez dude, SS was just joking. Lighten up a bit and you'll see the humor. _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. Many more than half will die. Isn't this known as the "Montequest moderation technique of Montequest initiated threads?" _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. Many more than half will die.
