Are there any natural sunblocks, aside from covering up?
(Or any way to make/obtain zinc oxide after TSHTF)? |

Woman and children apply a paste made from powdered wood from the Thanakha tree to their faces. I believe that besides the cosmetic/adornment aspect it also acts as a sunblock.
What about finding an old galvanised bathtub and gently sandpapering off the surface oxide coating (zinc oxide). This could be finely powdered and then mixed with grease/tallow for a dodgy homemade zinc cream! Or a broad brimmed hat? |

| I remember my mom used to make us wear zinc oxide below our eyebrows/above our eyes because the relective quality of the water at swimming lessons always gave us sunburns. It worked well, though we looked kinda goofy. |

Does anyone know if the old homemade baby oil + iodine did any good? Lots of people put that on kids 50 years ago in summer. _________________ Local fix-it guy.. |
