gonfishn,
Sounds like a good plan to me. Keep the length at 7 or 8 inches, and unless the ground in brick-hard clay like we have in August, he should be okay. Might try braze on the top end like you suggested, to keep the temp below transformation level. It's sure worth a try!
My head has been inside a New Holland 855 round baler all day, where a drive gearbox got uprooted. Time for some iced tea and a shade tree! _________________ Local fix-it guy..

To make it for that money, would require a pretty heavy investment in a small factory. The maker gets about 20 to 25% of retail, and there is about 10 bucks worth of steel in it, assuming imported hard tines, and imported handles that you'd be lucky to get for $3 or $4 each. So, that's $18 without assembly or paint or shipping. Add a profit for the builder, and you're at $50 or $60 out the factory door. The retailer gets about 40% of the sale price, and the middlemen and truckers get the rest. I don't see it happening at that price, unless it all comes from China. At less than $200 for a new tool, it's reasonable. The reason other garden tools are so cheap is that the factories were paid for 50 years ago.
Wait till Peak hits with a vengeance, and see what the local black smith wants to make something, with all hand labor, one at a time. Better stock up now. This stuff is a helluva deal.

Rebuilding a farm involves many important decisions including the "do I rebuild it or tear it down" question. Anyone who knows me here will know I have a tendancy to change my mind. This is no different. Originally I intended to build a large lean-to off my barn but now, since time is feeling tight, I'm in a hurry to accomodate 2 work horses in the barn, it'll cost me an arm and a leg to build new, and I'm alone, I feel I need to rebuild this building into my chicken coop. Actually it isn't really repurposing, just rebuilding because this is the chicken coop we used all through my childhood. One day, dad tore the front out to park a manure spreader and the rest is history. Well I'm going to put this back together. The foundation is shot and it is leaning off kilter, and it is as you see it here.
Next mention of it will be the after pictures. I have 3 weeks.

Looking for ideas on how to make something.
I have two medium sized dogs that we plan to take with us into an uncertain future. There will be a time when they, like all of us will be under threat from such things as wild dogs and perhaps people who are... not neighborly
I am looking for a way to get some anatolian like dog collars but do not want to spend the money to import them.
Here are some picture
essentially the goal is to make anyone or thing that tries to grab them by the neck to let go quickly and before any damage is done.
thank you in advance,

wisconsin_cur,
I'd try starting with a heavy, wide leather collar, and add some sharp studs. They could be as simple as #10 screws with nuts and washers to hold them, then sharpened as desired. Maybe a thick man's work belt would be a place to start. _________________ Local fix-it guy..
