A man claiming to be the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq vowed in an audiotape released Saturday to launch a month-long offensive against U.S. troops.

We call on our beloved ones … that each unit should present the head of an American as a gift to the charlatan Bush … in addition to one of the apostate servants and slaves of the Awakening [Councils] during a one-month period," he said in the tape, which was posted on an internet site.

He said the 30-day period begins from the day of the audiotape's release.

He called for Muslim support of jihad in Iraq, and for backing al-Qaeda's affiliate there, known as the "Islamic State of Iraq."

He also slammed anti-American Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, who has ordered his militia to halt attacks on American and Iraqi forces. Al-Sadr "has become the laughingstock of the world" and is a "toy" in Iran's hands, he said.

Remember al-Qaeda is Sunni and Sadr is Shi'ite. Even so, Sadr is now thinking along the same lines.

Sadr: 'we will declare an open war until liberation'

A full-blown uprising by al-Sadr, who led two rebellions against U.S.-led forces in 2004, could lead to a dramatic increase in violence in Iraq at a time when the Sunni extremist group al-Qaida in Iraq appears poised for new attacks.

'So I am giving my final warning ... to the Iraqi government ... to take the path of peace and abandon violence against its people,' al-Sadr said. 'If the government does not refrain ... we will declare an open war until liberation.'

His statement came as Iraqi troops, with US and UK support, clashed with his forces in Baghdad and the south.

In August the cleric's militia declared a ceasefire, pledging not to attack government or foreign soldiers.

It's started, shia mosques are now calling men to arms against US and puppet governement, for a war of liberation to end the occupation.

Loudspeakers at mosques in Baghdad's Shiite bastion Sadr City blared out a call to arms soon after radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr warned of a new uprising by his militia, residents said on Sunday.

"Fight the occupiers -- get them out of your homes," the late-night loudspeaker messages said, according to residents. "They (US) are calling for division. We demand that the siege of Sadr City be lifted."

The messages also urged the Iraqi army "not to fight your brothers."

The al quida call is most interesting. " the apostate servants and slaves of the Awakening [Councils] " mentioned are predominately Sunni Iraqis. Al quida has alienate their very basic support with well documented events like cooking children.
I don't think Sadr's call for Iraqi's to "not fight your brothers" will go over well with the Sunnis.
