Sure, sex with animals doesn't involve their consent, because we can't ask them if it is OK.
Yet we don't ask them it is OK if we:
Keep them caged or fenced in

I'm not necessarily saying sex with animals is a good thing, but the arguments that are used against it are ridiculous. We don't treat animals as humans (again this is a statement of fact, not an ethical stand), and so we can't pretend in this one case that we do. |
Yeah, it seems a little askew. People can beat their dogs, and neglect them, but they can't let them Fark them.
I am wondering how long the Dutch can maintain their "anything goes" society. There must be great pressure from surrounding countries to conform to more conservative values. |

Yes there is, but also pressure from inside our own country. With two Christian parties currently in our government, this is no surprise. A while back a large whore-house was closed in Amsterdam. So called 'smart-shops' where supplies for growing your own weed are sold, are being outlawed. But i guess we all have to get used to things being outlawed/forbidden.

That was the Dutch position before they passed this new law.
Cows, goats, chickens, cats, dogs or just about anything was considered legal and sexy. |
From what I heard, the animal abuse laws were considered to be enough.

So, having sex with animals was not a crime in the past? 
I didn't know that...i wonder how many years the government took to agree on this law. I bet some party's where against this law, as usual.

"Conservative values"? Screw that! 
Prostitution is legal...is that wrong? It's the oldest craft in the world and it happens everywhere with or without laws forbidding it. By making it legal it's possible to control and even tax prostitution to some degree.
Gay marriage...who are YOU to decide two males/females can't marry each other?
Smoking weed...let me put it this way....alcohol is drugs too. Trust me, if more people smoked weed instead of drinking beer many fights and acts of random aggression could be avoided.
About a year ago i watched FOX News comparing this wonderful country with Sodom and Gomorrah. I'm still pissed because of that! The bastards!

That was bad, yeah. The #1 exporter of hardcore porn telling us that we are too open about sex.  Scantily clad sluts behaving like cheap whores on TV 24 hours per day in the US, not to mention dozens of brutal murders, but a nipple briefly during the superbowl almost results in a lynching. 
The irony is, that here we have the same hypocrisy on a smaller scale: the areas which have the highest number of extreme protestants also have the highest number of porn vids sold and rented, and one of the highest incidences of incest and child molestation.

Glad you brought that up, Gampy. Public sex should be punished severely, and I don't mean in a bondage and discipline way.
Some gays frame it as an almost "human rights" issue, describing public sex as part of their culture. Bullshit, I say. What if, for example, blacks or, hispanics used the same argument--it wouldn't fly. The other argument, that you can make it illegal, but they'll just do it anyway, is weak. |
