It is so easy to store food.

Make a list of all of the food you use in one week.

Than start buying the cans first. Cans last 2 to 3 years.
You can buy peas, corn, spuds, green bean, ravioli, spagetti and a ton of other items in a can. Also don't forget to buy a good can opener.

Then buy things like hershey syrup, sugar, flour, syrup for pancake, vanilla, yeast, powdered milk.

Once you think you have everything. It will take two years to get a two years supply. Then every time you go to the grocery store rotate what you have in storage with the new stuff.

Any thoughts?

A gun wouldn't hurt. So you can kill me when I want to try out your wife little back end.

Relax baby it won't hurt

PS, have 1000 plus rounds set aside. I run fast and may be hard to hit.

That's how I'm doing it, and I have a might fine supply of food going. I vacuum seal a lot of it though. For a longer shelf life, plus it's quickly transportable if needed. (Supervolcanoe in Wyoming is overdue.....you know! Razz )

I saw on one of the lists available for download on this site, that Hormel canned goods last forever. So I pick up 5 or 6 cans of their products a month.

I also vacuum seal beef jerkey with my rice and beans. I figure those are loaded with perservatives and will last well beyond the manufacturers expiration date. Those can be tossed into soups as a flavoring. Even if the meat is too tough to consume, you might be able to flavor up a mighty fine stew.

Be creative with your stash! I also vacuum seal up a lot of those single serving soups. I also vacuum seal stuff like mashed potato mix, pancake mix. I just take the produce out of the box, cut the label off the box, stuff it in a vacuum seal bag, poke a few holes in the products original bag, and seal it! Bada boom, bada bing. You've just added shelf life to the product and your good to go.

Triple Gem,

Have you consumed any products you have vacuum sealed well beyond the manufacturers best before date.

Can you recommend a good vacuum packer.

Well I have been thinging about the vacuum sealer for my foods. Food items like rice and flour, and anything in a box. Maybe Mac and cheese would be a good combination to vacum seal. Also has anyone tried making powdered milk from one of these food storage companies. I would like to buy a can and test it out. How long do you think vaccum sealing flour and rice and other item, how long will it last? Do you think two years.

As for the hershey syrup, I was refereing to those hot sexy women in the world. Because if it really does get mad max like; then you better own a gun. I would have no trouble breaking into someone's home to get food for my family. Especially if the police are gone. Also picking up an indentured sexy female while searching the house wouldn't hurt. Otherwise they would starve to death. So I am actually doing them a favor. But some people wood just do what they want and then kill them.

I would rather you shoot the bad guys.

Folks I am a teacher and I see the teenager group mentality. They are very strong in numbers. You will not win against 4 or more at a time unless you kill them. During a die off they will come into your house and hurt you for your food. Yes teenagers, gang banging types, the scum off the earth type. Ya know the ones that refuse to work and will smoke weed until the welfare check comes in. They will be coming after you. So I hope you are ready. solid cast iron metal doors on your basement doors with the water supply inside.

The good thing about food storage is that you can eat it if nothing happens.
