When I visited Norway the beautiful Norwegian girls sunbathing topless at the University and on the beaches definitely DID NOT need breast enhancement surgery. They were very beautiful, indeed.

Norwegians are wonderful people and Norway is a very beautiful place.

Their oil-funded socialist state works extremely well.

Is it too late to transfer to your university next year?????? Very Happy

Back to serious topics...I think if Norway can reinvest that money in Norway and build a sustainable infrastructure, it will yield tremendous dividends.

Imagine if they spent that $250-$300 billion on high speed electric trains, wind mills, hydroelectric plants, tidal power plants, sustainable agriculture, and the rest.

Norway could continue to enjoy a first world standard of living for decades to come even if oil productions falls off a cliff.

They already have electric trains, some wind power (looking into more), plenty of hydro-electric power, investigating tidal (but not so promising), etc...

Agriculture needs some attention, but from what I recall, people have been living in Norway for quite a long time. Anyone from Norway have a population chart over time?

If I was under 30, I would make every effort possible to move there in a heartbeat. As long as the gulfstream doesn't shutdown, life will go on in Norway. Their cities are what cities were meant to be like! Small, clean, walkable. Love the place!

QuickSilver, why are you so paranoid about Muslims? Norway is racially mixed, and that is for the better it seems given that 1 in 10 Norwegians have chosen to marry a non-Norwegian.

Interesting.

The value of the account is 250 billion, no 300 billion, but it is still huge.

As of 30 jun 2007 the fund is standing at 1.930 billionNOK , that is about 330 billion US$.

The projected value 1 jan 2010 is 2.856 billion NOK or about 460 billion US$ at current US$/NOK value.

But what will be left of the fund if the world economy crashes and much of it is invested in shares, bonds etc.?

We are now securing oil for SUVs standing in traffic gridlock possibly at the expense of our future.
The oil is exploited too fast but this is not even an issue in the political debate.

Scandinavia is destined for greatness. They once had a number one song which was titled "Dogshit in my garden".

So, I guess a kid born in Norway is in an almost reverse position economically to one born in th U.S.A. Instead of having to bear a large debt burden over their lives, inherited from their government, they enjoy a share in a healthy investment fund.

Oh yeah, AND topless blonde girls on beaches! Razz
