Meanwhile, keep watching for shortage reports, because we should start seeing some sneak in this week, if our doom-o-meter is calibrated correctly.

Just wanted to share my pet peeve. It drives me nuts that I have to click on an article on the home page before I can find out the news source. I don't want to read it if the source is Modern Maturity or Ladie's Home Journal or some obscure news source I've never heard of.

So please, is it so hard to add the several words that identify the new source before I click on it?

Yes thinking and rating the newsstory yourshelf is so difficult and dangerous that might make your head explode.

That is why we need to know first if it is from a good or bad source.

No thinking is needed that way !

Critical thinking is so .. unamerican !!!!

Marvelous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very Happy Laughing

Chris- you go back to reading Reader's Digest, Fox news digest and the American Spectator. I don't want to. I don't have the time. But that makes me un-American right?

I'm sure you never filter the material you choose to read on the internet right? You read anything and everything that comes your way because you don't want to seem...un-American right?

A true patriot reads it all!!

Don't forget that when you hold your mouse over a link but don't click it yet, then look down at the very bottom of your browser window, it will tell you the URL, which would usually have the source name mentioned there Cool

At least it works that way in the billgatesian world of IE... Twisted Evil

This is what I do all the time. I could distinuish the site by looking at the url... and save me the trouble looking at the actual site.

It's good to summerize the link... but a wuss that complains doesnt know how to work around the problem...

This issue has been discussed before.

There are two reasons why most of us, news editors, don't usually mention the source up front, though mostly Carrie does.

1. News editing is quite time consuming, and we're not being paid for this. Finding stories, then seeing whether they are worth anything, then choosing which captions to quote and which not, it does cost some time. And there are things in our lives that need to be done, amongst which activities we are being paid for.

2. I just hope that we as news editors are trustworthy enough to make you feel we don't just post any story.

And there are plenty. Just try it for yourself: do a Google News search on 'oil', and see how many stories you get for one particular day. And then see how many news outlets you may never have heard of are amongst them....

The reason why the link's provided after click through is simple: it's the one way to assess the number of reads a story gets.

Thanks Waegari- That's a fair reply- I understand it takes time and no one's getting paid.

Thanks for all your work! I really appreciate it.
