I voted for the new template.
This template was OK for pioneering times, but now I think we need a more professional look. Unfortunately, people sometimes judge the seriousness of your assertions from the seriousness of your... template!
About the ignore button, I've never felt the need to use it (let alone specop, of course ). The percentage of fine members on this forum is amazing. _________________ **no english mothertongue**

I voted for forum upgrades, but I was thinking more along the lines of being able to edit a post than an ignore button.
Oh, wait, we can do that now? Nevermind. |

I would vote for the option to turn off the column on the left of the forums. It makes me have to keep my browser open too wide in order to not have to scroll, which interferes with my ability to futz here while doing other work.
To *just* have the forums open, without the column on the side or the banner on the top would make the forums much easier to use. You could put the GoogleAds (which preusmably are making money to support the site) beneath the messages instead of on top.
Given that I am *never* gonna PeakSpeak anyways, it's just a waste of screen real estate for me.
But if idea are being solicited, an IRC server is something I *would* use. Not bandwidth intensive and I can turn away for 10 minutes without missing any of the convo. And it won't use up my bandwidth while I'm uploading a project or something. |

I'd love to see News/Price/Forum feeds. Foxfire (the new replacement for IE) supports "Live Bookmarks". That way a menu item can appear for a site like Yahoo Top Stories. It seems small, but is really very cool if you just want to check in while you get on with other tasks like work!
A new look and feel is also a good idea. The more 'professional', the more likely new readers will stick around. |
