Climate Change Action

Quote:
Outline:

IS IT HAPPENING IS IT HUMAN CAUSED?
Do we know for sure the climate is changing?
couldn't this be a resultof natural variation in the climate system?
THERE IS SOME VARIABILITY THOUGH, HOW MUCH?
What are the time scales and magnitudes of natural variation?
Abrupt climate change, dangerous whatever it origin.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE?
What changes have we already observed?
A. Cryosphere
B. Oceans
C. Biosphere
D. Weather patterns

2. What changes are still to come?

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM LEVEL OF CLIMATE CHANGE THAT WE AS A SOCIETY CAN TOLERATE?
WHAT LEVEL OF CARBON DIOXIDE IN THE ATMOSPHERE DOES THIS EQUAL?
HOW MUCH CARBON DIOXIDE PER YEAR CAN HUMAN SOCIETY EMIT IN ORDER NOT TO EXCEED THIS LEVEL?

HOW MUCH CARBON DIOXIDE DOES THIS EQUATE TO PER PERSON PER YEAR?

To me we are still nowhere near answering these questions, and I am starting to fear we never will because once the greater depression sets in we will loose much of the global dimming we now enjoy and IMO tip over into the next temperature stability range which is somewhere between 6 and 10 degrees C (10-18 degrees F) higher than today as the GLOBAL average. As much as 40 F higher at the poles in winter!

ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There I feel much better now.

since the majority of the worlds population is fed by fossil fuel powered mass agriculture, once the oil dries up, the food will too.
Reducing to <1 billion won't be a choice.

I am on Golems side on this debate... I believe it is a cyclical event that is being utilized by TPTB to railroad a new Nuclear powered age with the offshoot being cheap hydrogen to power fuel cells... the spectre off Global Warming will mean we will have no choice but to allow the "new" nuclear power plants in our back yards... the relatively cheap electricity created by these power plants will make the EROI on a hydrogen economy more palatable to the sheeple and their misguided morons in the house and senate.
ahhh... the future is here and it is glowing!

I think that you grossly oversimplify food production. Yes the majority of fat North American and European farm crops come from massively fossil fueled corporate farms the same is not true of the rest of the world.

Don't suppose you're interested in an article like The lure of solar forcing? I don't think it references a Kevin Costner film like your post...

Tried to find some info on Douglass at Realclimate - about all I found was a reference to him doing slipshod work.

Climate scientists are about 90% on board with the validity of AGW.

p.s. I must admit I have an advantage over the 'experts', those tenured and granted grants, doing what they do, saying what they say, they have mortgages afterall and positions appealing to their ego.
(I am bound by none of those constraints...therefore I feel empowered to make bold suggestions...I have nothing to lose)

That's one compelling argument you make!
