Quote: "The U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on Thursday approved a Democratic climate change bill that would require industry to cut emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases 20 percent by 2020 from 2005 levels." http://www.reuters.com/article/politics ... WB20091105Even if PO were not upon us, this solution is laughable. 20 Percent by 2020? Even if it was BAU, we'd increase usage by 20 percent in the next 10 years, and we'd only be treading water. Of course, if you believe, as do I, that we'll be at about 50% oil production on or about 2020, then this sort of flimsy, facially-appeal-to-the-moronic-constituency legislation becomes gallows humor.

You know its gotta be bad when former VP is telling people that it's time to start breaking the law. Quote: Civil Unrest Has a Role in Stopping Climate Change, Says Gore
Amid increasing incidents of climate protesters disrupting the operations of fossil-fuel industries and airports in Britain and elsewhere, Gore suggests the scale of the emergency means non-violent lawbreaking is justified. "Civil disobedience has an honourable history, and when the urgency and moral clarity cross a certain threshold, then I think that civil disobedience is quite understandable, and it has a role to play," he says. "And I expect that it will increase, no question about it." http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2009/11/06-6

It makes more sense than most things. It means that, about the year 2020, oil production will be 1/2 of what it is today. 2. Speak for yourself. 3. I've contributed more to this site already than you ever will.
