Here it comes... Quote: The 2009 Atlantic hurricane season may get off to an early start. For the past two days, most of our reliable hurricane forecast models have been predicting the possibility of a subtropical depression forming near Florida or Western Cuba Monday - Thursday next week. http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/comment.html?entrynum=1219

A GOM hurricane would bump CL 5-10 in a week.

CL - Crude, Light
It's the symbol used on the NYMEX for the crude light future's contract, and when you see the price of crude in the media, it's th CL front end contract price you're seeing.

It'll be a bust like the others since Katrina. How we long for the good ole days when Peak was just around the corner.

Quote: A storm that is slowly gathering steam over the Bahamas will engulf Florida this week with heavy rain. This system could even become tropical over the next few days. Rain is good news for the drought-stricken state, but it could be too much of a good thing, creating flooding problems where arid conditions currently exist. AccuWeather.com meteorologists are monitoring the potential for this storm to strengthen and gather tropical characteristics to become the first named storm of the 2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The unaware might think you were talking about toothpaste and hand lotion: Code: CL‎ - Colgate-Palmolive Company (NYSE) This previous entry from Masters lists a whole slew of pre-season TS and even a few hurricanes.

[not sure if someone started one of these already or not] Now if you look at what is going on here you realize how lucky we probably are that this won't really have time to develop,...or will it? Tropical weather is one of the yearly x-factors impacting summer price spikes so I intend to keep a close eye on wunderground.com my favorite weather site.

Not too much to look at yet in the real world yet... but we always have projections!

The other day somebody questioned where the repair money will come from this year, with FEMA all but broke, the insurance companies facing constraints, and the banks not lending. It will be interesting.

It will be interesting. I'm sorry, why don't you think we'll just wish the money into existence (like we've been doing)?

The money will come from the same place all the rest of it comes from. Some nameless bureaucrat will sit down at a government computer, type in a number, put in the appropriate number of zeros and hit print. Bingo the 2009 hurricane season is funded.

10 named storms, 5 hurricanes and 2 strong hurricanes is all that is being predicted for this season. An average season unlike the recent years in the Atlantic basin linkEl Nino brings wind sheer that inhibits hurricane formation.

Nothing to get excited about here, just a little bump for the thread... Looks like 93L will be in the GOM by next Tuesday. http://icons-pe.wunderground.com/data/images/at200993_model
